Chromebooks 2!
Funded Apr 3, 2014Thank you for your incredible generosity. My classroom continues to move closer and closer to one in which technology is seamlessly integrated. My students enjoy writing blog posts and newspaper articles. It is amazing to see how many newspaper articles are shared via google drive with me each week. With the addition of these chromebooks my students have been able to collaborate on google documents when working on presentations. Your generosity is helping my students become prepared for the variety of demands and activities they will engage in for the rest of their lives!”

Graphic Novels Galore
Funded Oct 14, 2013Thank you so much for your generous donations to my classroom. Since the Graphic Novels arrived they have been passed from student to student as each has devoured the wonderful books. The books are rarely ever in their assigned book bin in the library as students are constantly reading them. Third graders enjoy graphic novels because they blend pictures, texts, and high interest story lines. Each day I see my students enjoying DragonBreath and Lunch Lady.
I constantly tell my students that the only way they can get better at reading is by reading. This project has led to increased time reading by my students as they are able to select and read books that are interesting to them!
Thank you for your generosity and helping to promote a love of reading in my classroom!”

I Scream, You Scream, We All Scream For An iPad! Part 2
Funded Apr 22, 2013Thank you for the incredible generosity you have shown my students. It has been incredible to see their excitement about having a second iPad in our classroom. The first project we worked on was to record poems that we had written. Students drew pictures using an app, which we then took screenshots of and cropped. Next, students used the AudioBoo app to record podcasts. During the publishing stage of recording the AudioBoo students were able to add their pictures. The end result is a wonderful display of creativity: http://audioboo.fm/users/1120230/playlists/6991-creature-poems
Your gift has made this project and many more possible!”

Cozy Reading Corner
Funded Nov 29, 2012Thank you so much for your generous gift to my classroom. Each day my students gather on the carpet to listen to stories, analyze poems, and solve math problems. It is a favorite place to sprawl out with a book. At the end of the day we meet again to recap our day and enjoy poetry or challenge ourselves with multiplication facts.
The beautiful tree designs reminds each of us that we are here in school to grow-- academically, emotionally, and socially. By having this warm and inviting community space we can do just that!”

Cozy Reading Corner-Part 2
Funded Nov 29, 2012How exciting that our bean bags arrived today! There were squeals of joy as our new comfy reading spaces were taken out of their boxes. Today everyone got a quick chance to sit in the bean bags and help mold them. In the coming days and months the bean bags will be home to many readers. Creating a classroom where students feel comfortable and are encouraged to read is a top priority for me. Your generous contributions have made this possible! Thank you for the efforts you've made to make my room wonderful!”

A Carpet To Help Us Grow
Funded Nov 29, 2012What a joy it was to see my students arrive this morning and discover our brand new classroom rug! The tree pattern is inviting and has a spot for each child! Thanks to you we were able to get of our old, stained carpet. Now my students have a wonderful place to sit and learn each day. On this carpet we will meet and share our writing, work on math problems, and enjoy a good book. It is important that a classroom is a welcoming place. With this rug my classroom has been transformed into a beautiful and welcoming space... thank you!”

More Library Books!
Funded May 30, 2012Thank you for the generosity that you have shown to the students of Passages. A group of children, many who are immigrants and refugees, the students at Passages do not have a school library. These books will jump start a mobile library! Students will learn the joy of checking out new books and getting to take them home to read. Many of these children have small or non-existent home libraries. Even today I know the joy that reading a book and floating to a different world brings me... you have helped to give this gift to many deserving children!”
