The Sound of Learning: Speakers for Students
Funded Mar 27, 2018I cannot thank you enough for your kind and generous donation towards these bluetooth speakers. Not having an Activeboard or a Smartboard in our small classroom, we had to rely on the built-in laptop speakers when incorporating music, songs, chants, video read alouds and other instructional approaches involving sound in our instruction. This had our students to either huddle close to the laptop or be very quiet, which has been almost an impossible task for these kiddos with special needs. With bluetooth speakers in the classroom, I am able to incorporate technology with sound into my teaching more effectively without any restriction. This allows me to incorporate different instructional approaches that involve movements, singing, video read alouds, kids documentaries into learning , and that have motivated many of my students about learning. Thank you so much for your kindness and support.”

Funded Mar 27, 2018I would like to thank you all for your generous donation towards our awesome carpet squares. As soon as my students saw the carpet squares, their eyes lit up with an excitement and started chattering like raindrops on a rainy day. Now with carpet squares, my students can find a comfortable nook in the room and fall in love with reading and writing. Carpet squares are also used to allow small group instruction in any corner of the room, which our students love. My ELLs with Special Needs are "struggling" readers and writers, and often lose interest in reading and writing, but not this time! Now I see them grabbing a book and a carpet square and reading and/or writing longer and with more enjoyment. Thank you again for your support and donation. The difference you made in my room is more and greater than you think. Thank you!”
With gratitude,
Ms. K.

Funded Dec 11, 2015Hello and thank you for your generous donation supporting students in my classroom to grow academically, intellectually and socially. My students come from what many identify as a "low-income" household. Thus, their chance to interact with technological tools -other than their parents' smart phones- is when they are at school. The technological tools I was able to purchase through your donation are exposing them to helpful tech tools they will encounter when they are older. Most of all, the technological tools have enhanced my instruction. Many technological tools like the wireless keyboard, and a laser pointer helped me to be free to walk around and carry out lessons. This helps me to assess all of my students' understanding (and not just the students sitting next to the teacher chair) throughout the lesson, and identify students' strengths and weaknesses to plan the next step for each students. I am able to provide more differentiated support to the students.
My students always liked Literacy Centers, but I didn't have enough literacy games. Now my students are learning through games and small group activities. They are not only learning to read and comprehend through various Literacy activities, but also are learning to socialize and build friendship with their peers.
I have 29 students with about 23 English Language Learners (ELLs) from about 9 different countries like Yemen, China, Philippines, Mexico, Congo and etc. With their different ethnic and cultural backgrounds, there were moments of misunderstanding in the beginning of the year. Thanks to your donations, we are growing together; learning together; building memories together; and becoming a little community in the classroom within the big school community. Now the students see that we are a family and are excited about coming to school.
Once again, thank you for your donations, warm thoughts and smiles you spread on my kids faces. :)”

Ms. K.

Funded Aug 26, 2014Greetings!
I still remember the day my students picked up their mail (i.e. homework packet and school newsletters) for the first time from their new classroom mailbox like yesterday. They were so excited to have their own mailbox. Additionally, having a mailbox helped us to be more organized, and it also saved us time.
Like the mailbox, items we received through your generous, thoughtful donations helped us making our students' learning experience more enjoyable, interactive and productive. For example, my students' published writing pieces were laminated and bound into a book and were shared, and will be treasured for a long time. Having their published pieces laminated and bound into a book encouraged students to take pride in their work. It also motivated the students to work harder. Other items like dry erase markers, and sentence strips encourage students with different learning styles.
I cannot thank you enough for your support in completing this project. Your donation has brought many positive changes in my classroom, and has enhanced their learning experience.”
With gratitude,
Ms. K.
