  • It's Time to Pack Up for Summer Break--But How?

    Funded May 10, 2023

Hello and THANK YOU! THANK YOU! THANK YOU!

You do not understand how helpful having oversized tubs to pack my many, many, MANY teaching items is.

The pictures you see tell a chronological story, LOL: when I first took the tubs out of the box, I had to first reattach a couple of the close-tabs.

    Afterwards, I got to work!

I even used the packing boxes in which the tubs arrived in to pack items which was a win-win, yes.

Finally, you can see the finished project--two days of working and cleaning from 6AM to 7PM--all of my items packed and labeled for the Summer.

The way in which the school year ended was tragic and uncommon so cheers to a better beginning in August!”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Richardson, Ed.S.

  • All The Way Up to Second Grade: Station Activities (Pt.1)

    Funded Nov 30, 2022

These materials arrived RIGHT before we went out for holiday break so it LITERALLY felt as if we received "presents"!

It really was so much fun retrieving the boxes from the Main Office--the kids were hilarious being each other's "eyes" while taking them up to our third-floor classroom (the stairs are STEEP, honey!)

The next day, I immediately built stations using some of the new materials.

They love the fine and gross motor games, the SEL sensory slime, and phonics-building activities.

There is SO much to go through, I haven't actually finished cataloging everything.

    Thank you again!”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Richardson, Ed.S.

  • All The Way Up to Second Grade!: Station Activities Pt.2

    Funded Nov 30, 2022

    Hello!

Thank you AGAIN for all of the holiday decor, learning station materials, games, and flashcards!

We are continuously using everything during our small groups and whole group demonstrations. The kids have been loving all of it and cheer whenever I introduce a new item to a station. I cannot say which item they become super excited about but I think they particularly like the Save the Day Character Trait capes; I have them wear them in the library and they have to consciously act like the trait they chose to wear.

    Again, I appreciate your kindness.

There are a million other classrooms you could have chosen to fund but mine was the fortunate one--how lucky are we??”

  • We Need Hand Soap!

    Funded Mar 14, 2023

    Happy Monday!

    How are you?

Thank you for providing our classroom with hand soap and storage for our supplies.

Since I didn't find it appropriate taking pictures of my kids washing their hands in the bathroom (LOL), I simply took pictures of the products themselves and their placement in my "Hygiene & Beauty Bar".

I was looking at all of the products you donated to my class and I am so thankful!

I know I sound slightly #teamtoomuch but you do not understand the STRUGGLE.

It has been difficult to replenish items such as tissues, soap, and paper towels this year. Some people seem to think that COVID-19, RSV, Strep Throat, and the Flu are totally gone but not when you work with children, they aren't!

    Thanks for everything, seriously.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Richardson, Ed.S.

  • 3Doodler Art Pens to Make Science 3-Dimensional!

    Funded Oct 28, 2020

You already KNOW that the kids enjoyed using the 3D Doodler Pens!

Anything innovative and different, they are ready for.

Honestly, since I have had pens for so long (during the peak of COVID) without having ever used them, I decided to make it a Science station and let them have fun with them. Imagination and creativity are best demonstrated when the executor has no bounds or instructions.

Thank you SO much for giving my boos this opportunity to just CREATE!

Art with the added incentive of advanced technology is the best.

I apologize for taking forever to write this thank you letter.

    XO”

  • A Candy Machine for "Fri-Yay Treat Day"!

    Funded Aug 12, 2022

    Happy holidays to you all!

The kids (and honestly everyone else!) have been LOVING the 4-part candy machine!

Every other Friday is "Fri-YAY", where I give those who have been great citizens over the two weeks an edible treat (like ice cream and cupcakes when my birthday fell on Fri-YAY), a trip to the treasure chest, popcorn and a movie on Disney+, OR a Ziploc bag to fill with candy from the machine.

I snort so loud when my colleagues come into my room like little kids asking to grab a handful of whatever I have in the compartments.

Currently, I have hard SweeTARTS, chewy SweeTARTS, Chiclets, and cherry balls available--a candy for every taste, obvi.

Thank you again for bringing a pinnacle item into my classroom to bring this year's theme to life!”

    With gratitude,

  • Extension Cords And Other Essentials To "Extend" Our Classroom Fun!

    Funded Mar 4, 2022

Hello again! Thank you again for purchasing these items for our classroom!

They have been extremely useful in our daily goings-on.

I put the bulk markers and glue sticks in the supply caddies for use during independent and small group work.

My kids usually destroy their masks during lunch time so some have to replace them afterwards.

You see in the pictures that the room is already outfitted with strips of outlets; however, they are absolutely useless (i.e., most are dead and non-working) so the 12-outlet strips are needed and definitely appreciated!

Right now, I have some of my BBW Wallflowers plugged in, which my kids LOVE--probably because they know how much I love Halloween.

Kids love seeing adults fan-girling over stuff, LOL!

I have not utilized the carpet markers yet because they do not adhere to my carpet, really. BUT, I think I may use them for some math games in the future (e.g., sorting, counting, computation, and etc.)

Anyway, have a great weekend and thank you for helping us.”

  • Pocket, Pocket, Put It In My Pocket!

    Funded Aug 22, 2022

We just finished our first week of school and it was extremely smooth--I am gratefully surprised!

By Tuesday, though, we were in desperate need of the chair pockets; school supplies were EVERYWHERE and the "noise" in my head was growing.

They arrived that afternoon, luckily; as you can see from the pictures, my kids insisted on carrying the box to our room themselves.

They kept shouting, "teamwork makes the dream work!"--I cannot with them, SMH, LOL!

I wrote their nameplates, slid them into the windows, and "pocketed" their chairs on Wednesday. The kids like them because they can keep their personal items together; I like them because they eliminate the disorganization and noise in my classroom--as well as the incessant trips to the closet.

    School can officially begin, yessss!”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Richardson, Ed.S.

  • Call Us Astronauts Because We Need SPACE! (Part #2)

    Funded May 8, 2022

Good (very early) morning and how are you?

It is Friday night and I just finished my first week back at work--it went by so SMOOTHLY!

The skeleton of my classroom is complete but I have yet to decorate and put my theme (Miss R.'s Candy Shop) into execution.

However, I was able to work in peace, clean, and organize my things without rushing.

These bookcases help with the organization of station/small group materials as I put my whiteboards, manipulative jars and tubs on their shelves.

They are a lot shorter than I anticipated but they make the corner of my room look really cute.

Thank you again, to my awesome donors!”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Richardson, Ed.S.

Hola! I am Miss Richardson and I am Third Grade teacher and Kindergarten Science curriculum writer in Richmond, Virginia. I teach in a small-ish school located in a cozy corner of the Northside of Richmond. Yes, we are a Title I school, and yes, some of my kids are not as fortunate as others. However, they are sweet and precocious, and I love being their "school mom" (THEIR words, LOL)! DonorsChoose allows me to give my kids world-class experiences despite whatever is happening at home. I have been teaching for 17 years. Along with Third, I have taught Kindergarten, First, and Second grades. I thank you for choosing my classroom to finance!
