  • Miss Richardson's Winter Extravaganza: Supplies Wanted! Part 2

    Funded Nov 28, 2023

    Hello!

Thank you again for allllllll of the Thanksgiving and Winter decor, craft kits, and treats!

I also appreciate the boxes of latex gloves, steamers, and other supplies I used to execute our Thanksgiving Extravaganza.

The kids had a lot of fun creating their turkeys, scarecrows, snowflakes, and holiday ornaments. All activities were in "rotation-style", having each on a table or carpet which the kids rotated to after about 20 minutes at each station.

Of course, they kept saying that it was the, "BEST DAY EVER", even though they already said that on Halloween, my birthday, and the day of our first field trip, LOL.

Either way, I appreciate you all helping me create these numerous best days ever, because they make school muy fun!”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Richardson, Ed.S.

  • Miss Richardson's Halloween Extravaganza: Supplies Wanted!!

    Funded Sep 20, 2023

    Hello!

I am SURE that you all had an awesome Thanksgiving last week!

My break was the best; I was able to rest and spend time alone and with my friends.

The Halloween Extravaganza was a success; let me tell you, the kids really were excited about all of the activities and treats. They especially liked using my dot (Bingo) markers to complete the Halloween coloring sheets.

Their mini pumpkins looked absolutely adorable and they liked decorating them to look goofy, scary, or colorful. I simply told them to be creative and express themselves outside of the norm; I do not police them during my extravaganzas.

Like me, they like having free reign to be autonomous--which is what I am teaching them to be!

They were so thankful and happy regarding their treat bags; they kept thanking and hugging me.

I love making them happy--I feel purposeful when I see them geeked, you know?

Thank you again for alllllll of the supplies and gifts; they were effective in making Halloween the BEST this year! XO”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Richardson, Ed.S.

  • "Attracting" The Creativity With Magnetic Paint!

    Funded Sep 20, 2022

    How are you?

I would like to apologize profusely for taking so long to submit my thank you package.

I have been unable to begin it because of time constraints and circumstances. I moved to a different classroom last year and the room that I am now in was supposed to be used for summer school.

I had planned on painting once the school year ended before summer school began but with the RPS murder tragedy during graduation, the year ended more abruptly than anticipated and I was unable to get to it.

Please know that ALL of the materials that you donated to my classroom are packed away in my closet and will used next June, once this school year ends. I plan to paint the old chalkboards behind my bookshelves so that I can use them as an art gallery.

Thank you for your understanding and patience!”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Richardson, Ed.S.

  • All The Way Up to Second Grade: Station Activities Pt.4

    Funded Jun 2, 2023

    Hello!

We've been in school for a month and a half and the kids have been breaking in the letter tiles, bingo games, and giant floor puzzles during small and whole groups...

Kids are naturally competitive so they absolutely LOVE playing Bingo; when someone yells "BINGO", you should hear the groans, HA. Some become overexcited and yell bingo before actually getting bingo and I have to tell them, "Umm madam/sir, you don't even have a complete row yet!" The kids cheer at that because the game then continues.

I particularly like the sight-word bingo sets because they let me know who recognizes frequency words and who I need to have practice more.

Thank you for your assistance with this proposal!”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Richardson, Ed.S.

  • Black & White With a Little Bit of RAINBOW

    Funded Aug 3, 2023

    Hello again!

I want to thank you all for donating to my classroom decor proposal.

I am not COMPLETELY done but it is coming along.

It is slightly frustrating not being able to complete it without being interrupted or having to do other things.

    Time goes by super fast!

While my boards aren't completely how I want them yet, I will be done by the end of the week. Everything else is pretty much set and completed.

This month, I have added some Halloween elements because it is October, it is Fall, and I absolutely LOVE this time of the year!

My kids seem to love my room; they always say that they like coming to school and looking at my lights and all. I look at some classrooms and feel bad for the kids because they aren't colorful or inviting even to ME--and I am grown. So, I am glad that I can provide my kids with a safe space that is also fun and vivid.

HOWEVER, I could not execute any of my vision without the help of you all--you make my room look spectacular!”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Richardson, Ed.S.

  • Call Us Astronauts Because We Need Space! #4

    Funded Aug 29, 2023

Thank you so much again, my friend!

I am excited to receive this bookcase because extra storage space for my classroom is DEFINITELY needed, OK? I have too much stuff but that is a GOOD PROBLEM right, LOL?

I am itching to organize all of my kids' supplies and items.

One does not realize how difficult it can be to maintain an organized classroom. It is like there is ALWAYS something to put away and not enough space or room to do it! With this bookcase, I can.

Have a great week and Labor Day holiday, XOXO!”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Richardson, Ed.S.

  • Back to In-Person Learning in T-Minus 2 Months . . . #2

    Funded Aug 12, 2021

    How are you?

I apologize for the extreme tardiness of my impact letter!

It has been almost two years since I've returned to in-person teaching from virtual and while it wasn't an ideal experience, the items you donated have been very useful to my classroom...

In this case, the ELA and Math puzzles, games, manipulatives, and workbooks were definitely on time when we returned to in-person school. Because virtual learning is/was particularly difficult for younger children--because they need to be tactile and kinesthetic to truly understand concepts--I knew I would need some updated materials and games in my teaching arsenal!

These items absolutely helped my First Graders and then Second Graders (I had the same class for two years) gain on-level skills quicker and in a fun manner. The magnetic calendar and timers helped me keep track of activities, trips, and meetings daily, as well.

    Thanks again!

    XO”

  • Back To In-Person Learning In T-Minus 2 Months...Provisions Needed!! #1

    Funded Jul 7, 2021

    How are you?

First, let me apologize for the extreme tardiness of my impact letter!

It has been almost two years since I've returned to in-person teaching from virtual and while it wasn't an ideal experience, the items you donated have been used in my classroom since...

In this case, the cleaning/disinfecting/dusting items you provided were and ARE extremely useful to us as I try to maintain a hygienic and healthy classroom "post-COVID" (because it is not really over).

The kids love cleaning and being allowed to use the broom, dusters, and Clorox wipes; I'm not too sure why kids feel as though cleaning is "grown-up" but I will NOT complain!

    Thanks for helping us!

    XO”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Richardson, Ed.S.

  • I Am ROCKING Remote Teaching--Time To Re-Up On Supplies!

    Funded Feb 10, 2021

First, I apologize for the extreme tardiness of my impact letter!

It has been almost two years since I've taught virtually and while it wasn't an ideal experience, the items you donated have been used in my classroom since...

The kids particularly love the scented stickers and alphabet stepping stones; the stepping stones have been used for so many phonics stations. Randomly identifying letters; saying the letters/sounds; and, saying the letters than a word that begins with them all while not falling off of the stones have aided. me in teaching my kids how to read and spell.

    Thank you again!”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Richardson, Ed.S.

Hola! I am Miss Richardson and I am Third Grade teacher and Kindergarten Science curriculum writer in Richmond, Virginia. I teach in a small-ish school located in a cozy corner of the Northside of Richmond. Yes, we are a Title I school, and yes, some of my kids are not as fortunate as others. However, they are sweet and precocious, and I love being their "school mom" (THEIR words, LOL)! DonorsChoose allows me to give my kids world-class experiences despite whatever is happening at home. I have been teaching for 17 years. Along with Third, I have taught Kindergarten, First, and Second grades. I thank you for choosing my classroom to finance!
