  • Can We Get Organized, Please!?

    Funded Sep 14, 2010

I want to thank you all sooooo much for the abundant donations. I recently moved to a different grade level (Second grade), so I have been taking time to adjust to teaching new curricula. Funny enough, the materials you guys donated towards help me moreso on THIS grade level than on my previous grade level!

The most used item so far is my recycle bin--the kids enjoy figuring out what goes in it versus the trash can, and they enjoy dumping it in the recycle dumpster outside. Don't let someone put a piece of paper in the trash can now that we have a recycle bin--my kids will bite their head off, LOL!

Again, thank you for the support! I especially am thankful for my fellow teachers who donated-you all understand my struggle and can truly relate to what my project entails...

    HAVE A GREAT 2011!”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Richardson, Ed.S.

  • "Uhhh, Houston, We Have a Gaming Problem"

    Funded Apr 15, 2010

I want to thank you all again for your wonderful generosity. I especially want to thank my students who gave their own monies because they wanted to see Ms. Richardson smile! That really touched me, to see my kids be so giving.

I cannot begin to tell you how these games have helped me prepare Math and Science lessons and my kids review for their SOL tests. SOL tests are from May 24-June 4, and from this week on, we will be doing EXTENSIVE subject review! With these games, I do not have to give tens of worksheets and study packets; I can use the hands-on manipulatives and activities to get my kids out of their seats and moving! I realize how bored kids can become with studying written notes, worksheets, and study guides (and how bored I get copying and distributing them!); I would rather see them get motivated and competitive by playing games and flashing cards.

To all of my donors, you have really blessed my classroom.

For that, I extend my sincerest thanks.

    Gracias!

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Richardson, Ed.S.

  • Help "Erase" Our Marker Board Problem!

    Funded Feb 28, 2010

I want to thank you again for the abundant donations.

My kids and I are truly grateful for the materials we received.

LOL, when I told them that my project got funded-they all screamed happily!

    I felt so pleased.

With the purchase of clear dry erase boards, dry erase markers, clipboards, and dry erase easels, I am able to run my learning stations more efficiently and interactively.

My kids are able to be more mobile throughout the classroom and that is fun for them because they cannot keep still!

Also, because I run a "GREEN" classroom, I now use less paper by placing activity sheets UNDERNEATH the clear markerboards and have the kids write on them to answer the questions on the activity sheets.

This makes me feel good because I am practicing what I preach--'SAVE NATURAL RESOURCES'!

Again, thank you SOO much for your thoughtfulness...”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Richardson, Ed.S.

Hola! I am Miss Richardson and I am Third Grade teacher and Kindergarten Science curriculum writer in Richmond, Virginia. I teach in a small-ish school located in a cozy corner of the Northside of Richmond. Yes, we are a Title I school, and yes, some of my kids are not as fortunate as others. However, they are sweet and precocious, and I love being their "school mom" (THEIR words, LOL)! DonorsChoose allows me to give my kids world-class experiences despite whatever is happening at home. I have been teaching for 17 years. Along with Third, I have taught Kindergarten, First, and Second grades. I thank you for choosing my classroom to finance!
