Art Supplies for Awesome Math Projects!
Funded Sep 28, 2016Thank you once again for your support in this project. As you can see from our project photos, the materials that were requested for this project was put to very good use. The construction paper was used extensively so that students could create posters of concepts that they learned in class. Our class did a shopping ad project where they were given a specific amount for a budget and they could purchase whatever they wanted but had to take into account either a markup or discount price, plus sales tax.
Students also completed a scatter plot activity where they analyzed data and created a poster of their findings. They had to explain the trend they noticed, find the line of best fit, and used the vocabulary words they were taught. They had so much fun creating these posters and adding their own creative flair to it.
Your donation and support has made a huge impact in my classroom. Students had the necessary tools in order to help them create these wonderful projects that they are extremely proud of. Students really took pride in their work and it is evident in the project photos. I can't wait to see what else they create.”

Help Us Learn Algebra with a Class Set of Graphing Calculators!
Funded Jul 22, 2015Thank you for your support of this project and I can't tell you how much my students love these new calculators. They wish we had more than just 10 so that each student was able to access them on a daily basis as opposed to sharing. When we first received these calculators, students were so curious and couldn't wait to use them. We have used them several times now in class to help us with graphing lines and looking at how lines change when we change their slopes. Some of the students love them so much that they use them constantly in class on a daily basis. We will be continuing to use them as a class to practice getting used to the various functions. Once again, thank you for your support and we wouldn't have these awesome math enhancing tools without you.”

Engaging Common Core Aligned Worksheets
Funded Feb 4, 2015Thank you again for your generous donation towards this project. When we received the materials, I couldn't wait to share them with my students and they loved them. What's great about these worksheets is that not only are students practicing the math concepts that they have learned that day, but these worksheets allow them to self correct with a riddle at the end. If the riddle didn't make sense, they knew they made a mistake somewhere and had to go back and fix it.
We have used this resource numerous times in our class for both classwork and homework. It is a great resource to use when you want to add a little variety to students' work. This project has made a huge impact on my teaching and students' learning by giving students more confidence in their mathematical capabilities. They are having fun while doing math and they are able to see where they are making mistakes.

Learning through Listening
Funded Mar 12, 2015Thank you so much for your support in this project. My students have enjoyed having a set of headphones that they can use when they are using their chromebooks. We are currently working on a math music video project where students had to do some research on the chromebooks and it was so exciting to see them so engaged and being able to see students working independently researching music and putting everything together. I know that these headphones will get used frequently and we are so appreciative of donors such as yourselves. On behalf of my class and I, thank you for helping us learn through listening!”

Bringing Color Into Math!
Funded Oct 14, 2014On behalf of my students and I, we would like to say Thank You for your support in this project. When our class first received the resources, we couldn't wait to use them. Students were finally glad that our classroom had an electronic hole-puncher which could help them get organized but were even more excited about the color printer. I told them that it would be used to enhance their future projects and they were looking forward to the upcoming project.
The electronic hole-puncher gets used daily and the students love the convenience of it. Our class also just finished a coordinate project where they had to find an image online and be able to write out detailed instructions on how to re-create the image and having a color printer really helped their projects pop!
These two resources have been such great tools to have in the classroom and it is because of donors such as yourselves. We will continue to enjoy these resources and hope to create more wonderful projects.”

Supplies for a Successful Year in Math!
Funded Sep 1, 2014Thank you all you wonderful donors for making this project a reality. My students were so excited to hear that our classroom was getting some much needed materials and couldn't wait to use them. They were all really impressed by the calculator caddy and "Oohed" and "Awed" about how amazing it was. It was nice to finally have an organizer for the calculators since we use them on almost a daily basis. The students were also thankful that we finally had a class set of calculators and that they didn't have to share one with a partner during classwork or even on assessments.
The students were also excited to be able to use the vast array of colored paper that we requested through this project to really add some color to their projects and classwork. Our class has been mainly using the colored paper to create foldables which are graphic organizers to help students with important concepts in class or helping students review vocabulary words. The students love the bright colored paper and are able to use them to decorate their projects and really bring them to life.
Another resource that we requested and have really enjoyed using is the Scholastic Math News publications. During Halloween, we read an article about how much money people on average spent on Halloween candy and decorations and because this publication also has an online resource component, students were able to be engaged in the video while answering various math questions related to the article.
Once again, thank you for your continued support and for allowing my students to be engaged in their mathematical endeavors. They have enjoyed using the materials requested in this project and will continue to do so.”

iPads as Document Cameras!
Funded Sep 6, 2014I am so excited to share with you news about how your donation has made an impact in our class. When we first received the resources, my students couldn't wait to use them. One of the resources that was requested was an ipad stand that could be used as a document camera. We can't tell you how great this tool has been in our class and we use it for everything! Our class has used it to take notes, stream videos and has really allowed our classroom to be interactive. The best part about this stand is that it has no wires so students aren't tripping over them.
The second resource that we received was a copy of the movie "Stand and Deliver." Students were able to watch this film during class and took notes on some important themes that occurred in the movie. Several of my students have told me that they really enjoyed this film and have somewhat inspired them do whatever it needs to be successful in school. Some of my students have even asked if we can watch this film again in class!
I am so grateful for donors such as yourselves because without you, this project wouldn't have been possible. Students are so engaged with the lesson and are excited when they get a chance to come up to the ipad stand and show their work. Students were also able to relate to the characters in the movie and see that with perseverance and hard work, they can accomplish things that might not have seemed possible.”

Geometry Fun!
Funded Sep 11, 2013Thank you for your generous donation towards our classroom. My students and I were so excited when we received these materials and couldn't wait to use them. I have used several of the workbooks that were purchased as a warm up for my Geometry support class so that students could review concepts that they've already learned. The worksheets created from these workbooks offer my students a fun alternative to practice Geometry skills.
My students have also used the Story of Math DVD resource on several occasions to learn more about the history behind some of the major math concepts and see how some of the concepts that they have learned so far in my class was relevant not only hundreds of years ago but how it applies to them in their everyday lives now.
All of these wonderful resources that were funded by generous donors such as yourselves have made a huge impact on my teaching and my students' learning. They are more engaged and making connections to what they have learned in class. On behalf of my students and I, we are so grateful for donations and appreciate your continued support.”

Math Designs!
Funded Aug 15, 2013Thank you so much for your wonderful donation and support in our Math Designs project. Once we received the materials, my students were excited to start using them immediately. My students were constantly talking about the worksheets they received as homework and how "boring" they were so with this project, we were able to purchase worksheets that allowed students to practice important math concepts learned that day but also draw a pattern with the answer.
These worksheets have been great in adding a variety to our curriculum and students are really enjoying them. I have assigned them several times for homework and it's neat to see kids drawing in the designs. I hope to continue using these worksheets to help students reinforce and review important math concepts while having fun creating designs.

Classroom Essentials
Funded Apr 5, 2013It is with great excitement that I share with you the impact that your donation is making in my classroom. It is with your donation that I was able to purchase workbooks that contained engaging activities for my students. Many of these workbooks included worksheets that have a riddle on them and students had to solve various math problems in order to get the riddle at the end. My students love these worksheets because it adds an element of fun to doing math.
In addition to purchasing workbooks, your donation allowed me to purchase rotating desk organizers for my students. My students sit in groups of four and often times, they don't have a lot of space for the textbooks and other classroom materials. When my desk organizers arrived, my students were so excited to use them. The desk organizer helped them keep their supplies such as pens, pencils, erasers, rulers, and whiteboards tidy and organized. Students still talk about how "cool" it is and I have had other colleagues who are also interested in them and think they are just neat.
Three years ago when I started teaching, there were so many classroom essentials that I wanted to purchase but never had the funding. It was with your help that I was able to achieve part of my dream of obtaining these materials. Thank you for your support and I look forward to continue exploring these materials with my students.”
