  • Books for Critical Conversations About Diversity, Racism, and Social Justice

    Funded Jun 11, 2020

Thank you so much for supporting this project and helping me build a diverse, anti-racist library for all teachers and students at my school. These books will support in opening up dialogue and engaging in teachable moments around diversity, racism, racial justice and how to be actively anti-racist through activism. Talking about these issues with children at young ages is so crucial. These books and conversations are just a small part of the social justice work that our amazing students will engage in, but will make a big difference!”

  • Third Graders Get Their Hand on Reading and Math!

    Funded Aug 22, 2018

I want to thank you again for supporting my classroom and my students. My students were very touched upon hearing that all of our new materials were purchased with the help of my friends, family, and even strangers. They were so appreciative of the fact that people they have never met would donate money to ensure they had access to engaging materials just for them!

I remember the first week we got our hands on these goodies during learning stations. I set up different learning centers using our materials. My students could barely contain their excitement to visit and explore each and every station. Learning stations time continues to be one of their favorite parts of the day. Thank you for making learning even more fun in our classroom!”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Jade

  • Extra! Extra! First-Graders Read All About News, Science, and Literature!

    Funded Aug 24, 2017

Our magazines are amazing! They ensure that my students have additional enriching texts to explore at home. Many of my students lacked engaging reading materials that are at their level at home. You have helped by making sure they get a new text every week to add to their collections.

These magazines are not only wonderful resources to support my students reading, they also support other content areas. They cover first grade topics and concepts in science and social studies. Furthermore, each scholastic magazine has a fun and engaging activity on the back that reinforces close reading skills, testing skills, and critical math skills such a analyzing graphs and data.

Students collect their magazines in a folder and keep it in their book bag that they bring home at the end of the day and back to school each morning. I frequently see students rereading past magazines by themselves and with their friends. Students really enjoy them!

Again, I can't thank you enough for supporting my students and classroom.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Jade

  • First Graders Get Their Hands on Reading, Writing, and Math!

    Funded Sep 27, 2016

I want to thank you again for supporting my classroom and my students. My students were very touched upon hearing that all of our new materials were purchased with the help of my friends, family, and even strangers. They were so appreciative of the fact that people they have never met would donate money to ensure they had access to engaging materials just for them! I remember the first week we got our hands on these goodies during learning stations. I set up different learning centers using our materials (math boxes, math in minutes, reading sight word books, making sentences with sight words, writing station with engaging prompts). My students could barely contain their excitement to visit and explore each and ever station. Learning stations time continues to be one of their favorite parts of the day. Thank you for making learning even more fun in our classroom!”

  • Supplies To Get Set Up For Success!

    Funded Jul 28, 2016

My students were so excited and humbled to receive and explore all of supplies from this project. We have been using these materials on almost a daily basis since receiving them. My students are able to be very organized with their seat sacks, book bags, and writing folders. They have developed a large sense of responsibility with the use of these materials. One of the class' favorite things to do is clean out their seat sacks on a monthly basis to "get organized."

The writing folders have helped my students internalize the writing process (brainstorming, writing, and editing/publishing). They move their writing through the folder as they go through each step. They also use the folder as a tool! It helps them spell commonly used words within their writing and reminds them to proofread their writing before it is completely finished. These folders are one of the most consistently useful supplies in my classroom!

The book baggies are amazing! My students are delighted to be able to bring books home to read with their families every night in these baggies. It warms my heart to provide my students with the opportunity to grow and develop their love for reading outside of our classroom.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Jade

  • Getting Our Hands On Reading, Writing, and Math!

    Funded Sep 6, 2015

I am so happy to get the opportunity to thank you all again for donating and have providing my class with our hands-on learning materials. We use our materials almost every day! My students are very eager and excited when we get to pull our math boards and number lines our during math lessons. As a teacher, I have definitely observed an increase in engagement during math and also overall improved fluency and understanding of basic concepts.

Out of all the materials in this project my students were the most excited about the phonics puzzles. They cheer out every time we get to use them in class. They also make connections between our explicit phonics instruction and what they notice in the puzzles.

They are very independent and responsible with all of our new materials. All by themselves, students set up the centers, make sure all the pieces are back in place when they are done, and keep them organized on bookshelves.

Everything we received through this project has easily made learning more hands on and fun in my classroom. The students have expressed their gratitude over and over again to my friends, family, and even strangers who have donated their hard-earned money to make our classroom a better place. Ms. Jade and the Aggies say "Thank You!!!"”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Jade

  • Ready, Set, Learn: An Organized Room To Maximize Learning!

    Funded Jul 1, 2015

I can't tell you how much my student's and I enjoy using our seat sacks and drawer organizers. They have helped us keep our most used materials nearby so we can get our hands on them quickly. This has minimized the time spent passing out and turning in materials. This is great because that give us more time for learning, growing, and having fun! My students from last year noticed the seat sacks in their old room and talked about how "cool and awesome" they were and how they wished they had them last year. Thank you all again so much for making "being organized" a cool and exciting thing. My students, who are 6-7 years old, are learning the importance of being organized early on. I know they will continue to develop and utilize their organizational skills as they continue their academic careers.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Jade

  • First Graders Falling More in Love with Reading!

    Funded Jul 8, 2014

I cannot tell you how excited my students were to receive these books. They were so excited to explore them and they have become some of their favorite to read independently and with their reading partners. We read these books during story time, they read books at their level during reading workshop, and they take some home to practice reading with their families!

The project was a huge boost to making our classroom library more diverse and interesting. The children are able to explore fiction AND nonfiction text at their "just right" levels. The books have also greatly motivated my students to practice their reading so they can move up reading levels and explore other books at the next level!

I can't fully express my happiness, excitement, and gratitude for helping me build my classroom library. The students at my school are so deserving of quality education. It's heart warming to know that YOU care about providing young minds with the tools they need to succeed.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Jade
