The products that I have selected will help my students by giving them the tools they need to learn how to live independent lives. The range and dishwasher will be used to learn to prepare their own meals and clean up afterward. It is the ultimate goal for our self-contained sped program to ensure that our students with Autism and Intellectual Disabilities are independent when they leave high school. Skills such as cooking and cleaning are multi-sensory and these goals are included in their individualized education plan. Cooking lessons can be used to teach a wide variety of skills such as reading, math communication, problem-solving, and social skills which are vital in determining the success of our students in the real world. We currently have a kitchen with very outdated appliances. Our students will definitely benefit from appliances that work and are efficient.
