  • Run and Get Us the Gingerbread Man Please!

    Funded Dec 23, 2024

My students were so excited when I reread The Gingerbread Man to them and told them that they each get to have their own copies to bring home. They were cheering and clapping. One of them said "I am going to ask my mommy to read it to me again when I get home." Another student said "I am going to share my book with my little brother."

After I gave them each a book, some of them asked if they could read it during Center time. Of course I told them they could. It was so great to see them telling the story off of the pictures and saying "Run, run as fast as you can. You can't catch me, I'm the Gingerbread Man!

Thank you again for supporting my class and fostering a love of reading!”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Lee

  • Capturing Moments in PreK!

    Funded Aug 14, 2024

It is so handy to have an instant photo printer in the classroom and be able to print pictures immediately! The best thing about this instant printer is that it allows me to print pictures that I've taken on my phone. The students love seeing themselves in the photos. The first time I showed them the photo printing they were amazed!

I used the printer so many times already this year. I take pictures of my students when they're reading, writing, doing centers and when they play outside and printed it out to display in the classroom. My students love to go and look at their learning moments throughout the day. Thank you for making this possible!”

  • Creativity With Cricut

    Funded May 6, 2024

It's still early on in the school year but the circuit has already been put to use many times in our classroom. It has decreased the amount of time I take to set up my classroom. Before, I would have to trace and cut everything by hand. But not with the circuit machine anymore! I have used the circuit to decorate our classroom with shapes and signs (with different fonts). I have also used the circuit to decorate our classroom door with dinosaurs. The students & families were so excited when they saw our door!

The possibilities are endless with the cricut machine and I can't wait to create more with it. Thank you so much for making this possible.”

  • Supplies for a New School Year

    Funded Aug 14, 2024

This school year has been off to a great start! We are two and a half months in and we have been using many of the supplies. My students especially love the play doh! Play doh is a popular choice during center time. They love to use the rolling pin to flatten it and use the cutters to make different designs. Afterwards, they would count how many things they've made.

We have also been writing everyday using the paper we received. My students love to write stories about themselves as well as made up stories. We have also been doing a lot of arts and craft activities with the glue.

Thank you for providing my students with the supplies they need in school.”

  • Moving on Up to Kindergarten!

    Funded Jun 6, 2024

I gave my students their end of the year gifts yesterday and they were over the moon! There was so much chatter over the gifts after I told them about each of the items. Some of them said:

    - "Hey, we're going to Kindergarten soon!"

    - "I have workbooks at home, but not a Kindergarten one. I can do it at home."

    - "I can't wait to draw in the notebook with the markers."

    - "I'm so happy I have markers. I don't have markers at home."

    - "Yay, I can play with play-doh at home and make kitty cats"

    - "I love my presents!"

Thank you for providing my students with these special gifts to end their year in PreK!”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Lee

  • Teaching with Technology in Pre-K

    Funded Nov 8, 2023

Thank you so much for the new Lenova Yoga 9i laptop.  We have been using it for various activities throughout the day.

I have been using the laptop to project poems and songs that were created on google slides so students can see the words when we sing throughout the day.  Since we have a new PreK curriculum this year, we have been using the laptop to read books and watch videos related to the different units we've been studying. For example, during our exercise unit, we found books online, and the students watched a video of a gymnast on the balance beam after trying to balance and walk in a straight line following a piece of tape that was placed on the floor of the classroom.

Students have also been using the laptop for interactive lessons online. Students have been using boom cards to work on their letters and numbers. Boom cards are interactive digital task cards that students work with online.  The students find it very engaging.

We love having this Lenova laptop in our class!  Thank you again!”

  • Interactive Learning

    Funded Mar 15, 2023

My students were so excited when they saw the leap frog electronic games! These interactive materials have made it more engaging for students to learn their letters and numbers all while having fun during center time. My students have also been trying to write their letters on the games, which they find more fun than writing with a pencil.

We have also been using the ink to create various charts during our units of study. For example, we used the ink to print pictures to make a graph of our favorite balls during our balls unit.

Thank you again for supporting our classroom!”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Lee

  • Goodbye PreK, Hello Kindergarten

    Funded May 8, 2023

What a great way to end the school year by providing my students with gifts! They were so excited when they saw it. It was like Christmas in June! Their favorites were The Elephant and Piggie books (their favorite characters) and of course the play doh. Many of them said "Wow, a big box of playdoh! I can't wait to make ice cream with the play-doh."

Since we gave the gifts to the students right after Prek graduation, many of the parents were looking through the bag and loved that the students got a journal to write in and a workbook to get them ready for Kindergarten.

Thank you for sending off my students to Kindergarten with a smile!”

  • Learning through Play

    Funded Nov 29, 2022

When we received the boxes and I opened it with my students, they were all so excited to see all the materials in the box. As I was taking each item out, I heard so much excitement. They were saying "Wow! I want to play with that! That's so cool!"

My students love all the materials, but they especially love dressing up as super heroes, animals, and community workers. After they dress-up, they create different scenarios with each other. For example, they'll pretend they're in the jungle when they dress up as animals.

My students also love playing with the different vehicles. They'll pretend to use the construction vehicles to build roads with the blocks and after they are finish, they will use the wooden vehicles such as a taxi or bus and go on the road.

Thank you so much for supporting our class and helping my students learn through play!”

  • It’s Game Time!

    Funded Nov 29, 2022

My students love all the games we received. They especially like playing Zingo and they are learning new vocabulary as they are playing. My students also really like the balancing monkey game. They are learning to count and learning about the concept of equal at the same time. My students also love the math pop-it game. This game combines a pop-it which my students love and counting.

We have also been using the messy mats on a consistent basis. Whenever we do an art activity, we bring out the messy mats while they paint and it helps with an easy clean-up.

Thanks you so much for supporting my classroom.”

Hi! I am a kindergarten special education teacher at a school in a low-income area of New York City. I have a class of 27 students who are motivated, energetic, and eager to learn. Many of them come from non-English speaking and low-income households. I also have students with special needs in my class. Despite these difficulties, they are inquisitive and love to learn about the world around them.
