Starting Strong in Kindergarten!
Funded Aug 9, 2023It has been a wonderful start of the school year for our Kindergarten students who have enjoyed crafting, exploring and learning with our new playdough stations and learning tools.
The hands on items allow for students to apply counting and letter identification skills during our small group times. We decorated our classroom bulletin boards with the fall crafts, enjoy playing phonemic awareness games with magnets and use our trays almost daily when counting our manipulatives during math centers.
We are very grateful for your support in enhancing our student's learning experience!”

Funded May 8, 2023Thank you so much for your continued support in making the end of year weeks a highly memorable experience for my Kindergarten students.
The photo props, books and special arts & craft projects like book marks and T-shirts with signatures were truly exciting ways to end our school year.
As a special writing project students enjoyed creating their own keepsake memory books for which they worked as authors and illustrators.
A special 'Thank You' for allowing me to make the end of year time so special and educational for my students that they will be ready and excited for 1st Grade!”

Funded Sep 3, 2022Thank you so much for your generous donation towards my project 'Little Tools For Big Minds'!
Over the past months my Kindergarten students have enjoyed adding color and personalized art work to our classroom walls and door. The reading nook is a cozy corner for everyone who needs a bit of a rest throughout the day and the displays help putting our weekly books in perfect visible order.
The book mark art project was a great success for our little readers and thanks to your continued support for our projects, my students are able to enjoy highly memorable learning activities in Kindergarten.
I wish you all a happy and healthy new year 2023!”

Funded Aug 8, 2022I want to write a heartfelt 'Thank You' for your generous support in stocking our Kindergarten classroom with math toys and manipulatives that allow students to apply the math skills with the help of hands-on manipulatives like puzzles, magnets and counters.
My students enjoy building with colorful geometric blocks of the Katamino game which teaches spatial thinking and teamwork. They enjoy using the counting trays and puzzles during station time and as a special bonus all our new material is well organized and easy to use for students independently.
This allows my Kindergarten students to be creative and autonomous during hands-on math lessons and they simply cannot get enough of learning during math station time!”

Funded Aug 12, 2021Thanks to your generous donations towards our math manipulatives, our students are making use of hands-on math tools every day. The multipurpose use of our material allows for unending learning discoveries in our math stations. The magnetic numbers help us build equations and the magnatile blocks are a student's favorite when exploring 3-D shapes and structures. The students have demonstrated their problem-solving and social skills when working together to solve math problems. We are enjoying counting, building, sorting and solving math problems with our hands AND minds every day!”

Funded Apr 9, 2021In our Kindergarten classroom, our young and curious learners with plenty of energy and drive to move have had the joy to add the portable lap desks to our flexible seating options.
During the warmer months, students were able to take their outdoor learning to the next level by using the seats in our schoolyard while drawing, writing and reading comfortably. However, we are still using our lap desks daily inside the classroom as they are helping our little authors maintain proper writing posture and allow for safely distanced group work.
Thanks to your generosity our Kindergarten students have the opportunity to sit and learn comfortably indoors and outdoors!”

Raising Racial Justice Readers
Funded May 4, 2021We started this year strong and confident in Kindergarten! With your help our classroom reading corner reflects the interests, backgrounds and personalities of our students. The Kindergarten students enjoy reading stories they can relate to and see characters they can identify with. Additionally, we are not only building confident and enthusiastic readers with our classroom library, but the 'Raising Racial Justice Readers' library has become an important part of our English Language Arts Curriculum e.g. the books ' Your name is a song' and 'Get up- Stand Up' have led to important discussions about the meaning of our names, cultures and how important it is for us to stand up and speak out against injustice.
Thank you so much for your continuous support!”

Funded Dec 1, 2020Your generous donations have brought much excitement into our Kindergarten classroom as we have been able to craft and create multiple projects with the material donated by you.
The students are always looking forward to our weekly art classes that we connect to our reading and writing curriculum e.g. when we created collage art inspired by the author Leo Leoni. Having a great variety of art tools allows us to engage every student in the projects and help them create their own masterpieces.
Just last week, we celebrated the arrival of spring by crafting flowers for our classroom wall, learned about parts of the brain by making a playdough model on our own and crafted our bubble wands from pipe cleaners as part of our science experiment.
Thank you for your generous support and your efforts that help bring so much joy and learning to our Kindergarten students.”

Funded Nov 9, 2020Thank you very much for your support towards our classroom technology project!
Our Kindergarten students use the project tablets for a variety of purposes in the classroom. We have included a number of reading apps and websites that allow students to practice independent reading, math games/tools and/or click through our digital classroom library.
This reinforces important learning goals as students reread read aloud books digitally, use math games and digital manipulatives to solve word problems as well as most recently for researching about different ways to exercise.
In a classroom setting like ours where students have diverse learning needs and possess different technology skills, the tablets have helped us individualize our teaching as well as incorporate important technology skills.
Additionally, the tablets allow students to be engaged with the learning material while working socially distanced in our classroom.”

Let Our Inner Artist Shine!
Funded Sep 16, 2020Thanks to your generous donations, our arts & crafts supply closet is filled with material that our little artists are very much excited about. In our classroom, we make time for art on a weekly basis to allow students a different way to express themselves and try out new artistic techniques (e.g. oil pastel, watercolor, wood painting and finger painting).
A lot of times, the children have the opportunity to work with art materials in an unstructured way in order to truly create something of their own e.g. a collage. However, the students were also introduced to color theory and mixing and practiced it on their own. A special highlight for all was when our students used the donated crafts to create a present for their families e.g. for the holidays. Those projects are very special as our students are enthusiastic gift givers themselves and more than anything enjoy that feeling of creating something for their loved ones!
Thank you for your support in allowing me to help my students make such memorable Kindergarten experiences.”
With gratitude,
Ms. IKELER
