Funded Sep 27, 2024At first, my students were EXTREMELY surprised/confused at the instruments we received. They had never heard of these things before, and we're very interested in what they looked like. Once we started playing with them, the students were super enthusiastic about using them and we were able to start a little club of sound therapy students that meets once a week within our already established music club.
My students really love the sounds that the bowls make, and they love how relaxing it is to hear them. Another great point is how easy it is to produce such beautiful tones. They like playing the bowls for each other to take turns relaxing. The rain stick has added another great effect they can use. A project we will work on in the future is making a recording that they can loop for sounds they can fall asleep to. One of our students came up with that idea and she is very enthusiastic about it. We also have a future collaboration with the yoga class in the works, once we master how to play the bowls a little bit more.
I have to say there was an added bonus to this - In the time we created project and the materials actually came, I had two blind students come to my class. They took to these instruments IMMEDIATELY and it has given them such a great sense of making music and exploring with sound. These things are perfect for allowing the girls to feel included and to make music like everyone else. Thank you again for your generosity and for helping to bring music to all students!”
With gratitude,
