Funded Oct 3, 2024This project has made the biggest impact on my students. Students started out the year trepid, but thanks to supplies from donors like you they have grown as scientists!
The bacteria kits are a great way for my 6th graders to start the year excited about science. They choose one person at their table to swab their hand and get to see what has grown a couple days later.
My 7th graders love the fossils and the "do it at home" chemicals like the popping candy, antacid and mentos. Everyone loves fossils and I do the "do it at home" chemistry during State Testing Week and it gives my 7th graders something to look forward to.
My biggest thank you comes from the ingredients. Designing and building a Health Bar is my students favorite project and they got to complete it because of you! Students used a website to design a health bar, either for rescue workers or for patients. Students chose different ingredients based on their health benefits, costs, and taste. The only problem was that my curriculum doesn't provide students with the opportunity to build their health bar at the end of the project. The first thing my students asked me when I announced this unit was "are we going to get to eat the health bar?" It was the perfect "last day before break" activity. Students lined up, mixed their ingredients in a bag, added honey to make everything stick, then ate it with a spoon. Again, they couldn't have had this experience without you.
Thank you for supporting my students by making my classroom a place where they don't have to worry about not having enough supplies and knowing that what they do have will allow them to become blossoming scientists.”
With gratitude,
Ms. Hotchkin
