This 2021-2022 school year, RMDS is providing another new HS course that we never had before which we are excited about! We were able to move around classrooms in the building to create a new space of an empty large classroom for a first video studio! However, we need your help preparing to make this a successful transition for those students to start off with high tech equipment needed. As a new video production teacher, I will assign students to learn and practice different techniques of camera shooting during the first semester as mini-lessons with editing skills individually. Their short filmmaking during the second semester will be the final project in a smaller group as writers, producers, actors, and editors taking turns. Their teamwork experience will be shared at the RMDS spring production at the end of the school year doing a short film festival! In the future, we could possibly expand the celebration of the young deaf filmmakers by inviting other deaf schools to participate and share their works.
We will need the green screen studio room with 2 backdrops, floor tiles, and other materials to be able to provide our students the experience in filmmaking. Their work will be shown on our YouTube which has been a great resource for Deaf and Hard of Hearing children around the nation. With donations, we will be able to push our students’ abilities and dreams in becoming filmmakers, video editors, and performing artists.
We also hope to expand our technology equipment, we appreciate any donations you may be able to support.
