Hands On Fun With Magnets!
Funded Feb 10, 2014Thank you so much for your generous donations! My students are extremely thankful and excited about their new science materials! Since the magnets have arrived they have become more motivated and excited to learn more about magnets.
Our class has now had the opportunity to play with horseshoe magnets, bar magnets, cow magnets, and many other types of magnets. The kids loved experimenting with the different magnets to see which were stronger, and the different types of attraction. We also had the opportunity to learn how magnets work with compasses. The kids were amazed how the needle would spin when confronted with a magnet. Lastly, we learned about how opposites attract. The kids enjoyed feeling the resistance and attraction with a variety of different magnets.
Most importantly you have given our students a sense curiosity. My kids loved working together, asking each other questions, and discovering the answers on their own. Again, words can't express how appreciative we are. Thank you so much!!!”

Funded Aug 4, 2012Thank you so much for your donations so that my students can have access to calculators when needed. As we are progressing through the year, we have had to pull out the calculators so that my students can focus on solving the math problem. The new math curriculum focuses a lot on real world story problems. The problems are multi-steps and can get very complicated. I want my kiddos to focus on those steps rather than worrying about whether or not their calculations are correct. I also have some students who are in Special Ed. and they require the accommodation of using calculators on a regular basis. Having these calculators have been tremendous help for our class. Again we thank you so much for your support. You are wonderful!!!”

Authors Who Can Be Heard Loud and Clear!!
Funded Oct 3, 2011Words can't express how grateful I am for your donation to our classroom. The karaoke machine that you donated has helped our class so much this year. Each morning we listen to music during our Morning Boogie time. This helps our class to wake up each morning and be more alert and ready for math. The students have also used it numerous times to share their amazing work. The kids loved talking in the microphone and were more motivated in wanting to come up to the front of the classroom.
Our budget is very limited and without your support we would never have these wonderful extra resources. Thank you so much for your contribution.

Funded Sep 9, 2010Thank you so much for your generous contribution for our classroom. Since receiving our cameras, the kids have loved using them. To my surprise I have found many more uses than I originally anticipated. Just the other day we used the cameras for a reading lesson. I have been trying to teach my students the strategy of pulling out the main ideas and supporting details from a story. The kids were struggling with distinguishing the differences between main ideas and details. I had the kids take pictures of an item and then complete a web about their items by creating main ideas and details. They then presented the web and their photograph to the whole class. As a class we discussed the students' webs. The cameras have really motivated my students to learn and to participate. It has been neat seeing students who might just sit back and watch, want to get involved. Again, thank you so much for your support!”
