  • Math Super Bowl, Here We Go

    Funded Jul 1, 2022

Thank you so much for the supplies to make our Super Bowl Math possible! My students had a blast while reviewing the math skills that we have learned this year. The students were able to dress up as football players and felt like they were in the moment with our classroom transformation. The best part of this activity was that students were collaborating, while showing what they knew. For the students who were struggling, their teammates were supporting them and re-teaching the math skills.

Again, thank you so much for supporting my amazing students!”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Hinojosa

  • Privacy Shields Needed

    Funded Jun 9, 2022

Thank you so much for supporting our awesome classroom! These privacy shields have been so useful and valuable for learning. We will pull them out and use them whenever students need to do independent work or assessments. This allows them show to show their thinking and mastery of skills. Sometimes students prefer to use them when they are trying to avoid distractions or need some quite time. I love them because they are made of plastic and can be very easily washed. Again, thank you so much! We couldn't have done it without you!”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Hinojosa

  • Bring Ideas To Life With A 3D Printer

    Funded Apr 11, 2022

Words cannot express how appreciative I am for your support in bring an amazing learning tool to our classroom. The 3D printer provides opportunities to build 21st century learning skills. Our first project was creating bookmarks to use while we were working on our 40 Books Challenge. For the project, we practiced our reading skills by reading and following directions. We used math skills (decimals) by changing the thickness and size of the project. The neatest part of the project was watching my students collaborate and support each other while working on this challenging task. There was a sense of excitement, even through struggles of getting our bookmarks just right. Our next exciting STEM project is creating ghosts for Halloween.

Again, thank you so much! The 3D printer will provide for a lot of opportunities to practice skills that we are learning in the classroom!”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Hinojosa

  • Creating Excitement With STEM

    Funded Jan 20, 2022

There are no words to describe how grateful we are for you supporting our class. When my students saw what we received, they were super excited. Because of this project, my kids always looked forward to STEM Friday.

The highlight was creating the Scribble Bots. We tied this engineering activity in with our science, learning about transfer of energy. It was so neat to see my students' excitement and engagement for the project. They were very creative and persevered when their robots were not working. I also loved watching how my students collaborated with others.

Thank you so much for supporting us. We couldn't have done this without you.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Hinojosa

  • Dissecting an Owl's Dinner

    Funded Nov 30, 2021

Thank you so much for supporting our classroom. The owl pellets were used to apply what we have learned about animals' structure and function. The students were given a task to dissect the pellet and then to put together the bones and compare it to a poster to try to figure what the owl ate for dinner. This allowed for students to focus on the structure of the rodent or other animal that may have been eaten. At first, the kids were grossed out. Once they got going, they were so excited and very engaged in what they were doing. The conversations were very neat to listen to, in that they were productive and they sounded like mini scientists. I even had students come up afterwards and mentioned that this was their favorite activity all year.

Again, thank you! We couldn't have done this without you!”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Hinojosa

  • Starting The School Year With The Needed Supplies!

    Funded Jul 28, 2021

Thank you so much for supporting our classroom. The supplies we received with the grant were very useful throughout this school year. We started out the year by using the water colors to paint a portrait to hang up in our classroom. The kids loved this activity and were very creative. We also used the water colors later on when we create a clay model of Utah and it's landforms. The students color coded the different regions and landmarks with the paint. The yard sticks were very useful when conducting science experiments. We measured the bounce of a tennis ball when we learned about energy. Lastly, the tissues were very helpful, in that many times students came to school sick or had the sniffles. Again, thank you! We couldn't have done this without you.”

  • A Rug for Collaboration!

    Funded Sep 3, 2021

I can't express how appreciative our class is to have a new rug in our room. We do everything on the rug. This is where we do our daily picture book read aloud. The kids also choose to gather on the carpet when doing group work or playing games on the floor. There are even times when we have mindful moments and will have power naps on the carpet. This rug has been a factor of creating an environment of togetherness and comfort for students.

Thank you so much for supporting my amazing students. We couldn't have done this without you!”

  • Learning Through Play Part 3

    Funded Oct 11, 2021

Thank you so much for supporting my learners! The kids have absolutely loved role-playing to learn new things. The class transformations are engaging and puts meaning into what they are learning. My kids learned about making inferences by becoming a sheriff to solve a crime that occurred in our classroom. They loved writing down their clues in the notebook. They also loved learning about area and perimeter by becoming construction workers. It was very exciting watching my kids get so excited about doing their math assignment.

Again, thank you! We couldn't have done this without you!”

  • Learning to Read and Write Cursive

    Funded Nov 30, 2021

Thank you so much for bringing cursive instruction to our classroom. This program is amazing! We are more than half-way through it and my kids are doing a wonderful job with reading and writing in cursive. The program uses a simple teaching technique that focuses on the strokes. Once my students learned about those strokes and identified which letters used the strokes, and with a little practice, they were able to write. It was neat to see how quickly they caught on.

We also love the coloring pages that practice the strokes. It's a great source for early finishers and for those times when we need some down time. Again thank you so much! We couldn't have done this without you.”

  • No More Dry Erase Markers! Part 2

    Funded Aug 13, 2021

I can't express to you enough how appreciative I am for you supporting our class. My students absolutely love using these tablets. They mostly use the tablets to show their work for math. However, we have also used them for responding to reading and science questions.

Since using these tables, we have saved so much money on dry erase markers. The tables have also saved us so much time with having to pull out the markers, boards, and erasers. I don't have to worry about my students writing on themselves or other things with the markers.

Thank you so much! We couldn't have done this without you!”
