Storytelling is an important part of my classroom. Students need opportunities to tell their stories and to be creative. This cricut will help us transform our stories and make creative designs and fonts using technology and the arts to take them to next level. This cricut will allow them to be able to share, create, and keep their books for many years to come. In addition, these narratives will be turned into books that will also align to the 5th grade Math Common Core State Standards. How? You might ask? They will convert different-sized standard measurement units within a given measurement system (e.g., convert 5 cm to 0.05 m), and use these conversions in solving multi-step problems in order to design and create their book covers. I will also incorporate the Standards of Mathematical Practice into this project which will result in students feeling competent to solve—math problems with tools, strategies, and add confidence in their mathematical abilities. I look forward to using, involving and engaging my students with this project. I assure you these donations to this project will enhance their mathematical thinking.
