The books and scholastic magazines that I've asked for help keep my students reading relevant news and up to date novels. In order to allow them to learn to read for pleasure, I told them that they can read any text they like in my class for 20 minutes a day. Some of my students only have experience reading novels and texts for academic purposes only - these books will allow them to explore new materials that are relevant to their interests and begin reading for enjoyment. My students will be keeping reading logs and personal reflections so that they can be held accountable for their reading and eventually create projects about their chosen text. These books will provide any reluctant readers with opportunities to explore interesting texts.
