Classroom Supplies
Funded Nov 10, 2022Thank you so much for your wonderful contribution to our classroom. We use our broom daily and we have added it to our list of daily jobs. The kids love helping clean the room at the end of the day and I love that it is helping to teach them responsibility and teamwork. The anchor chart paper is often used often and as you can see we fit a lot of content on those pages. Our kiddos use these for group projects and to refer back to notes from our lessons. The sentence strips live on our whiteboard and are used to help our English Language learners to write and say sentences in English. All of these resources have helped our day to day functions in the classroom. We can not thank you enough for your support.”

Protection and Fun For Our Classroom Ipads!
Funded Mar 30, 2017I would like to take some time to thank you for your generous donation to our classroom and describe the impact it has made on my student's learning. The Ipad covers have been a tremendous help and have ensured that our Ipads will remain safe so that as many students can use them as possible. The keypads that were part of the cases have been very helpful as well. The students can now use the Ipads for research projects and are practicing their typing skills. I am passionate about creating 21st century learners that are prepared to be successful citizens in the world and technology is a huge part of our world today. Being able to utilize our Ipads is a great tool in helping me achieve this goal.
The Osmo games that were provided through this project are used on a daily basis. The kids absolutely love using them during math small groups. They have so much fun solving the problems and collaborating with their classmates. Sometimes I think they are having so much fun that they don't even realize that they are learning so much in the process!
I can't thank you enough for investing in our students. You have made our classroom an even better place to learn and grow.”

Funded Nov 30, 2016Thank you so much for you generous donation. The 3Doodler pens have provided our students with so many opportunities for hands-on-learning experiences. It has been so much fun watching their faces light up as we learn about geometry. Our art instructor has also been able to use the 3Doodler pens as a resource in her room. She has told me how much fun students from across the grade levels have has using the pens as a creative tool. Many of our students do not have access to technology like this in their homes. It is a great experience for them to be able to use such new and innovative tools like the 3Doodler pens. I am so grateful for the chance to share these resources with my students and am excited about all the experiences these pens will provide in the future.”

Funded Aug 25, 2016I am so thrilled that we have received the resources from this project thanks to your generous donations. Seeing the kids faces light up when we received the books and chairs was amazing to see. It is exciting as a teacher to see the reactions from my students as I tell them that people care about them and have gifted us resources to use in our classroom.
We are currently reading "The One and Only Ivan" during our whole group instruction time. Before we began reading all the students did some research on the computer about the author Kate Dicamillo. They also did some research on the real gorilla that this story is based on. Once we began reading the kids immediately loved the story and the characters. There is a chapter in the story that talks about a little boy climbing into one of the gorillas cages. We connected this story to the real event that recently happened at the Cincinnati Zoo with a gorilla named Harambe. We talked about the actions taken by the zoo to kill Harambe in order to save the boy. The students then wrote opinion pieces on whether or not they believe Harambe should have been killed. The kids have been so involved in this reading unit and I can not thank you enough for providing these books for our classroom.
The excercise ball chairs have also been a huge hit with the students. These chairs have become two of our computer desk chairs and the kids rotate to all have a chance to sit in them. They give the kids a break from regular chair seating and allow them to get some of their energy out throughout the day. Your donations are greatly appreciated by my students and myself. We can not thank you enough for donating to our classroom and helping us to become a more successful learning community.”

Funded Mar 9, 2016Dear Donors,
Since receiving the math manipulatives from this project, our daily math instruction has become so much more engaging and exciting for the students. They are excited to learn everyday using the Osmo gaming system, the power pen flashcards, and the ten frame dice. We use all of the products daily and the power pens and ten frame dice serve as incentives for students to be able to use after completing assignments. It is amazing to see kids motivated by having interactive tools at their disposal.
The Osmo gaming systems have served as a wonderful tool for my students to use during small group instruction. While I am working with a small group of students, other students can be using the Osmos at their desks. The numbers game on the Osmos is a great way for students to practice their basic number sense. So many of my students are not on grade level in mathematics. They need the concrete foundational math skills that will act as building blocks throughout their learning.
I can't thank you enough for all of the wonderful learning opportunities you have provided our classroom with. It brings me joy every time I see the students enjoying learning thanks to the resources you helped to provide. Thank you for thinking of our classroom and contributing to the learning of our students.”

Graphic Novels For Our ESL Classroom
Funded Dec 9, 2015First, I would just like to say that we have loved having the new graphic novels in our library. I have seen my students become more and more excited about independent reading time by being able to check out the graphic novels from our library. Since we received the books they have been circulating the classroom from student to student and are all being used during our CAFE reading time.
CAFE is a great reading program in which students are taught the basic skills needed to become successful independent readers. In the beginning of the year we teach them about comprehension, accuracy, fluency, and expanded vocabulary. These four skills are all an important part of becoming a proficient reader. We teach the students several different strategies to practice these four skills. For example, to practice fluency we ask the kids to pick one page in their independent reading book to read over and over again. Doing this allows them to focus on expression, punctuation, and the speed at which they read. If the students would like to practice comprehension, we ask them to write summaries on every page using a post-it notes to keep in their book. Students also use other reading strategies like making inferences, questioning, predicting, and self-monitoring their reading.
The graphic novels are great because they make reading more accessible for my students. The visuals help my students to comprehend what they are reading and make reading a more meaningful activity. Again, I can not thank you enough for your generous donation, it truly has enhanced the students learning and is being put to good use in our classroom.”
