First LEGO League Is Essential for STEAM Learning!

Help me give my students equal access to LEGO Education SPIKE Essential kits. Currently, we don't have enough kits to cover a full grade level - only enough for 2/3 of one class.

  • Think It! Code It! See it!

    Funded Dec 26, 2023

Thank you so much for your support for my students. The Lego Robots have been a game changer in providing access to more of my students to actually see their code move objects. Their excitement over seeing it come to life has them persevering to problem solve where in the past, they gave up more easily. I overheard one of my students who historically has not been that excited about this enrichment class say to a classmate as they were walking into class, "I've been waiting all week for this class! I can't wait to get started."

When they first saw the robots your support provided, the kids were all excited and exclaiming over them. They had a ton of questions, "You mean we are going to build and play with robots in here? When do we get to start? What are we going to program them to do?" Are some examples of what I was asked when they saw me unboxing the materials.

With the use of the Lego curriculum, each of my students classes from 3rd grade on up will have the opportunity to see their coding/programming come to life.

Thank you so much for your generosity!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Habetler

  • Full-STEAM Ahead: Coding and Team Building for Pre-K & Kindergarten

    Funded Dec 5, 2022

Thank you so much for your generosity! Your funding of our grant allowed my youngest students access to offline physical computing materials. They were so excited to see their ideas come to life while using these manipulatives and it has helped to lay a solid foundation for their learning in Computer Science in the future. We worked on loops and conditionals and if/then statements while we learned to re-think the choices we made and find new avenues for reaching our goals. Students were able to see and interact in real time!”

  • Brick By Brick, We'll Build It!

    Funded Jan 13, 2022

I just wanted to reach out and let you know how much your donations have helped my students! This year for Lego Club was a bit of a challenge as it was the first year holding the club post-pandemic and I wanted to make sure that not only did my students have access to quality materials, but also were able to stay safe while in Club. The resources you helped provide ensured that each student in the club had their "own set" of Lego's to use week-to-week as well as examples of building projects.

Students were predominantly in Kindergarten and First grade, but I did have a couple of 5th grade girls who really wanted to be with us. Each week, students came in, were able to retrieve their building materials and begin working on their projects. They excitedly shared their ideas with each other, helped each other think through problems and obstacles and just made their imagined creations come to life! When they first saw the kits, they were so excited! Each day they passed me in the hall was a countdown to the next time we had club. As they went back to their classrooms and told other kids about the club, even more students wanted to join and cannot wait for the next session to begin!

I know that next year is going to be just as exciting, for both the students and I. It

means so much to me that you were able to help me make this happen!”

  • Can You Hear What I Hear?

    Funded Jan 24, 2020

Thank you for funding this project for my students. Unfortunately, Covid 19 hit our schools before we were able to fully implement the use of materials in 2019. That being said, we are on our 6th week of in-person learning for this school year and the adapters that I was able to purchase with your funding from them have been used daily - reaching over 700 students since the start of the school year. This is especially important since our families have been greatly economically impacted due to Covid 19.

Your generosity and foresight is much appreciated.”

  • Brainstorms to Mindstorms!

    Funded Mar 27, 2018

I just wanted to take a moment to explain the impact your generosity has had on my students' learning. We have never had a Mindstorms kit at our school before. In fact, it was just last year that we were able to get any robots into our school at all. The Mindstorms kit you helped us to get has really piqued the interest of my students. If you were not aware, getting kids interested in something really pushes them to use their critical thinking and problem solving skills because they are internally motivated. This kit has pushed them to think through obstacles and work together in ways they haven't done before. To hear them laughing while working through problems has been wonderful and would not have happened without you.

Thank you for giving them this opportunity!”

  • Big Bang: A STEAM Project Using Electricity and Mythology

    Funded Oct 13, 2017

Thank you for the Little Bits set and the Circuit Pens. Students in my 3rd grade classes were able to use them to practice following steps in a manual and putting together electronic circuits with these materials. These are skills we will use to build our constellation models. We have been working on a yearlong project of re-writing myths about the constellations into comic strips and re-creating the constellations using electric circuits. Students are using essential skills that they will continue to use throughout their education and future careers.

My students are so excited about the materials you helped to fund, that they are already thinking about other ways they can use them for future projects. Your donation has really sparked their excitement and interest! Students who are more kinesthetic learners and sometimes struggle to remain on task were 100% engaged during the lessons in which we used these materials, ensuring their greater understanding of the content we are covering.”

  • This Is Us: It Isn't Always Sew Easy

    Funded Dec 28, 2017

Thank you for the Brother sewing and embroidery machine. Students in my 4th grade classes were able to begin using it to envision how they will create the avatars for their project. Each pair of students spent time putting the machine together and reading the manual to figure out how to use it. These are essential skills that students will use throughout their education and future careers.

My students are so excited about the sewing machine, they are already thinking about other ways they can use it for future projects and how I can use it with other grades. Some of the ideas they have had is that student council can use it to embroider t-shirts with our school logo on it for students and that when a student gets a tear in their "hoodie" they can come down and repair it. These may seem like mundane plans, but for students who have not had access to a sewing machine in school before, it has been very exciting. Your donation has really sparked their excitement and interest in our class in a way that has reached even the hardest to reach students. Students who struggle to remain on task were 100% engaged during the lessons in which we used the sewing and embroidery machine.”

  • Block It: Re-designing Our Outside Places!

    Funded Sep 1, 2017

Thank you for the 3Doodler Pens. Students in my 5th grade classes were able to use them to practice our design skills as we get ready to use them to build our 3D models. We have been working on a yearlong project of re-designing our outside spaces to work for our students needs. Students are tackling a real-world problem that directly effects them and our school community, using essential skills that they will continue to use throughout their education and future careers.

My students are so excited about the pens, they are already thinking about other ways they can use them for future projects and how I can use them with other grades and the younger kids. Your donation has really sparked their excitement and interest in our class in a way that has reached even the hardest to reach students. Students who struggle to remain on task were 100% engaged during the lessons in which we used the headsets.”

  • Time Lords: An Interactive Look at History

    Funded Sep 15, 2017

Thank you for the Little Bits, Bloxels, Makey Makey, Snap Circuits and Stikbots sets. Students in my 7th grade classes were able to use them to begin constructing their board games and video games. They learned about electricity using the Snap Circuits that will help them with any motorized/electronic component for their games. Students also began to play around with the Stikbots for the advertisements for their games. This inquiry that we were able to conduct is an essential skill that students will use throughout their education and future careers.

My students are so excited about the resources you funded, they are already thinking about other ways they can use them for future projects and how I can use them with other grades and the younger kids. Your donation has really sparked their excitement and interest in our class in a way that has reached even the hardest to reach students. Students who struggle to remain on task were 100% engaged during the lessons in which we used these resources.”

I teach in an urban school with a high percentage of minority, ELL, and low income students. This is the second year that my school has had the Literacy Lab program and we have seen a lot of success and growth in students ability to use technology for learning. My goal is to provide all of my kindergarten through 8th grade students with the literacy and technology skills they need to succeed in school and beyond. A key part of this goal is having access to relevant and current technology that can be used by all of my students.
