After my first year of teaching, I am so pleased with the impact interactive notebooks had on my students. After reflection, I realized the piece that was missing was the organization, which is why I feel students would best benefit from a 3-subject journal for the 2019-2020 school year. The use of interactive notebooks play a vital role in student understanding of priority ELA standards. Long gone are the days of copying down notes from a PowerPoint. Interactive notebooks provide a way to organize thoughts, accommodate for visual/kinesthetic learners, serve as a reflection piece, and provide an opportunity for student ownership. Students will use these notebooks everyday in our class. For bell ringers, introduction to different units, academic vocabulary, and reflecting. The notebooks will stay in my classroom to ensure use and to prevent them from being lost, stolen, etc.
