My school is a small Title One school with a student population that is 97% low socioeconomic and bilingual Hispanic. In the past couple of years we have gotten quite a few refugees from Africa, Nepal, and Afghanistan. All of my students are sweet and loving children who come with a lot of complicated situations and differing backgrounds, but not a lot of supplies. Meeting their needs takes a lot of budget money in a lot of directions, but none of those directions are my classroom's direction. My music budget has been nonexistent for 5 years now. Our Urban district is desperately trying to keep up with our growing student population, but cannot build and expand fast enough so our school has 6 portables. The art teacher and I share one of them, and for about 5 years we have also shared supplies.
