  • Lamination Projects

    Funded Oct 19, 2019

Thank you very much for your generous donations! My students were beyond excited when they saw classroom adults using laminator machine to laminate winter snow globe with their picture. Students were also thrilled when they used the new durable resources for math. They understood that laminating the math resources meant they will last more and they would be able to write on them using white board markers. The laminator machine and the sleeve pockets were perfect for me to laminate not only math resources but also colorful cards that helped with first sound fluency, phonics, letter cards, and reading cards. They were a great help in my students' academic learning in the classroom. And on top of it all, the laminator machine will continue to help many more students as they enter my classroom. I am forever grateful!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Garcia-Anguiano

  • Wanted: Listening Center for Students with Special Needs

    Funded Nov 2, 2012

My students and I would like to thank each and every one of you for helping us in getting our listening center! We always find ourselves very excited when using the new books on CD's and wireless headphones during small group rotations. My students enjoy stories when working independently or in a small group. It is so wonderful to see that all of you believe in the needs of my students and show high importance in education. The listening center is a great resource that I see my students benefiting from and highly enjoying. Thank you all once again!”

  • Horton Hears A Laptop!

    Funded Jan 31, 2012

The new laptop has been a great asset within our classroom. The students love when I hook it up to the projector to play education games, watch animated stories and math lessons and see PowerPoint's during whole group and small groups. Showing pictures related to what I am teaching for better understanding has been so much easier. No need to print pictures and waste paper and ink. The students enjoy working in pairs to browse Internet or to read stories on starfall or PBS, or type out their writing piece. We recently played Jeopardy to review new English Language skills learned and concepts about our unit theme on plants.

Every student had the opportunity to use the laptop. Students use laptop during Discovery Time and Independent Work Time. The great part about this is that the students can work independently and are learning to maneuver mouse and browse the Internet. Teacher assistant or I help the students and show them how to work the laptop. The students will become more knowledgeable and tech savvy.

So once again thank you for making such a huge impact on my students. They love the idea of having a laptop in class that they can use to help them with their schoolwork. This type of technology has become learning in disguise. ”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Garcia-Anguiano

My Students are kindergarten and first grade students with special needs. Their mild to moderate disabilities range from mental retardation to Autism, to a learning disability, to emotional disturbance, and to developmental delay. They require all learning modalities (i.e. visuals, kinesthetic, auditory, and tactile), patience, repetition of new concepts, exposure to new things, and lots of love! Our school is a Title 1 school that is located in the city of Los Angeles. Our school is located in a low socioeconomic area where every student qualifies for the free lunch program. Most of my students are delayed in some or all of the following areas: social emotional, physical, cognitive, and language development. Most of my students do not own a computer at home. My students have access to two outdated IBM computers that turn off and on when they please. Through other forms of donations, we obtained a projector that we're unable to use because we do not have a laptop to connect to.
