  • Printer for Visual Learners

    Funded Jul 26, 2020

This project has helped my students as well as myself as a teacher. I have been able to use the printer to print out resources for students to use during remote learning at home. When my students do not have access to materials, I am able to print out worksheets for them to use at home. One way this has been beneficial for my students in the subject area of math is that I can send students math fact cards to practice their math facts. I also have students use the 100 chart to help support their math and double check their work. During this pandemic, I am grateful that since my students are learning at home, I am also able to use the printer to print out resources that will help supplement the teaching I am doing with them. I can print out tools to help demonstrate the lesson. I can also use the printer to print out student work so that I have work samples to show the parents during meetings/ conferences. The most beneficial use for the printer is definitely the math manipulative. I am able to print out and make analog clocks, math fact cards, coins and dollar bills, and base ten blocks. I am definitely grateful towards my donors for making this project a success.”

  • Creativity and Critical Thinking Through Games and Writing!

    Funded Nov 3, 2017

As we enter our writing unit in poetry, the resources have been especially helpful to allow for more student creativity. The paper cutter makes the job much easier and quicker. Students are also using the pens throughout the writing process. This allows for students to see the revisions they have made as oppose to using a pencil and erasing. I believe that when students see their mistakes then they are able to learn and grow to become even better.

My students were so excited when they saw the materials. I opened the box with the students and as the materials were taken out of the box, the students were so thrilled and couldn't contain their excitement. Throughout the week, I showed the students the games and they were so grateful for the games.

As we move further into our math unit, my students still struggle with subtraction. I find it will be especially beneficial to incorporate the subtraction math game into one of the math centers to help my struggling students learn their subtraction facts in a more interactive and fun and creative way.

We are so grateful and appreciative to our donors for all you have contributed, whether small or big, we are thankful for you!”

  • If you Care, Help with our WEAR and TEAR.

    Funded May 20, 2015

My students and I would like to start off by saying THANK YOU for being the sole donor for this project. We are so grateful that you were able to fully fund this project so that we could start off the year on the right foot.

My students said that the resources really helped them to be organized at the beginning of the school year and for the rest of the school year. They see that the classroom is organized and they know where they can go to find the materials they need; writing paper, worksheets, and reading logs. This has not only been beneficial for the students to becoming more independent, but for me as well. Now, I can organize the paper for the new units and not have to worry about it until a new unit begins.

The learning that is taking place in the classroom setting is much more student-centered. Students can rely on each other for guidance rather than always coming to be for help. The more they becoming familiar with the classroom resources available to them and the more frequent they use the materials, the more confident I see them becoming as a learner.

We could not have done any of this without your help, so thank you again!”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Gao

  • Help My Students Reach Their Reading/ Writing Potential

    Funded Dec 20, 2014

I wanted to say THANK YOU to each and every one of you for making a donation to my classroom and towards my project. My students are so appreciative and as am I. They love the Time for Kids Magazine as it's provided an additional resource for the students during our Non-Fiction unit. They have enjoyed learning about all the fantastic things that happen outside of the classroom. They especially enjoyed the article on One World Trade so much that we have planned for a class trip to see it ourselves. The index cards have also been a great resource in the classroom. Students use it to sign out library books each day. In addition, on a weekly basis they also use it to practice and study their spelling words. I most especially enjoy the tote where my supplies can be carried throughout the classroom whether it's to teach a small group of students or if I have to grab something quickly to work on with a student individually. Another great resouce were the magnetic letters, wow!! Those helped the students emencely because now they not only know the word, but gained additional support by spelling it out so they never forget! My lower readers have moved up at least two reading levels with through the practice of spelling the words and mixing the letters to spell it again at least three times. It's helped with their reading and writing skills!”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Gao

  • iTeach

    Funded Dec 19, 2013

My students are so grateful for your donations to get them an iPad for the classroom. They have been saying how much they learn on the iPad from tracing and recognizing alphabet letters for my Kindergarteners, to learning how to add and subtract for my first graders and strengthening the reading skills for my second graders.

When the students finish their work early, they are able to ask to use the iPad to reinforce skills that were taught during the lesson as I add new apps on a weekly basis. Students who struggle to complete worksheets also have an opportunity to use the iPad as an alternative method and it's great because I can track their progress based on how they master concepts from certain games. The iPad is also being used for students who need a short break and as a reward for students who complete their work early and successfully.

The resource boost my teaching because now my students have something that is more hands-on and it's a wonderful tool to have as most of my students need the extra visual and auditory support that the iPad can provide when I am not always available to them on an individual basis. My students confidence in learning has also improved as they all look forward to using the iPad throughout the day and they always ask every time they use it who are the nice people who were kind enough to buy them an iPad to use. I can't thank you enough, but I want you to know that you have made a difference in lives of each of my students with your contribution towards this project!”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Gao

I teach in a 12:1:1 self-contained kindergarten- second grade classroom. I have students with a wide range of different learning styles in my classroom. Most of my students are currently below grade level. I have a great group of students who really love learning, but we do not have adequate resources in the classroom to expand that growth to its fullest potential. However, through donorschoose.org, I am not only grateful, but extremely thankful to the donors who give to my projects and help my students throughout the school year!
