Fun in First Grade

Funded May 11, 2016

Dear Donors,

I cannot begin to describe the amount of excitement that has been buzzing around our classroom since the school year began! It has been contagious each day as we learn, take risks, and have fun. My littles are thriving in first grade because of wonderful donors, like each of you.

My littles have thoroughly enjoyed getting to read all of the new books that they have been able to get their hands on. One of their favorites have been the "Pigeon" books. Giggles fill our room as we read them aloud on our carpet. Smiles radiate throughout our room as they read "Biscuit" books, and their confidence to read is soaring. I have already received comments from parents explaining how much their child is reading books. I truly believe that is because it is important to put books in the hands of students that are interesting, relevant, and fun to read.

Each morning when my student enter the classroom, I often see them gathered around our easel, using their decoding skills, and determining what we are going to be doing for the day because of our morning message that is written for them. This easel has become such an important part of our day. It helps to set the tone of the day and ensure my littles know exactly what to expect.

When I received the Wobble Chairs, my students were excited and intrigued to begin using them. Each day, I catch students making their way over to the teacher table, excited to begin our reading groups. I believe this is not only because of the relevant books they are beginning to read, but because the Wobble Chairs make a once boring and dull task, now exciting! My littles' favorite thing, by far, is getting to sit in the Wobble Chairs. Having alternative seating options can be daunting to some teachers and students, but I have really been able to see the difference in their ability to focus and move.

I am truly grateful for all the supplies that I have received from my DonorsChoose project. It has had such an impact on my littles. This will continue to have an impact on my students for years to come! Thank you, thank you, THANK YOU!”

With gratitude,

Ms. Galyon
