  • Snack Time!

    Funded Sep 16, 2023

My class is going to be so excited and appreciative when the snacks come in. Their favorite part of the day is when they get to eat their healthy snacks during independent reading time. It gives them an incentive to work on their reading stamina. Thank you for your generous donation.”

  • Snack Time

    Funded Sep 20, 2022

My fourth grade students loved the yummy snacks that they were able to enjoy thanks to your generosity. In the morning, after the students unpack, some who did not get an opportunity to eat breakfast at home, ask the cereal monitor for a cup of cereal. We have a classroom monitor to insure we take good care of our cereal dispenser. Their favorite part of the day is midmorning snack time. They take out a book to read independently, hand sanitize, and wait patiently for our snack monitor to come around the room with the snack cart. They love that they have choices. They use their manners and always say, "Yes please" and "Thank You".

I discussed with my class how we should share our blessings. I suggested that when we have visitors in our classroom, it would be polite to offer them a snack. Now every single time someone walks into our classroom, at least one student offers them a snack. The school staff is at awe of their kindness. You have helped me not only feed my students but teach them a very important lesson in kindness. Thank you!”

  • Planning Ahead!

    Funded Jul 18, 2019

My fifth graders feel so grown up carrying around their student planners with them from class to class so they can write down their homework assignments and any important reminders. They are also using the reference pages to help them complete their assignments. I explained to them that this will help them be more independent and transition to middle school next year so they are taking it very seriously. They said it keeps them organized. They especially appreciate the perforated bookmark it brings to help them hold their spot.

Thanks again for your generous donation!”

  • Celebrating Us!

    Funded Jun 5, 2019

The children love the multicultural books that we added to our class library thanks to your generous donation. They appreciate seeing characters in books that they can relate to. It is easier for them to make connections. They also enjoy reading about other cultures other than their own. They grow to accept and appreciate other cultures. Living in New York City, they are often exposed to many cultures. Reading about them gives them a greater understanding of them. They learn that although we may all be different in some ways, we still share many characteristics, interests, hopes, and dreams.”

My fourth graders in Brooklyn participate in a lot of group work throughout the day and are in need of flexible seating and supplies that would make their transition from the traditional wooden student desks to their group areas more effective. Whether they are working on problem-solving in mathematics, a STEAM project or on reciprocal reading strategies, they are learning how to engage in positive discourse. Many students like to sit on the floor and the cushioned pads would be much more comfortable than sitting on the bare tiled floors. We believe in the power of TEAMWORK. Together we succeed! Your generous donation will make it possible for us to have the materials we need for group work and the flexible seating to make it more comfortable.
