  • Kleenex for Kids during COVID

    Funded Nov 10, 2021

Thank you for supporting this project. As we returned to in-person learning, it was important for my students not to share common-use materials like facial tissue. I wanted to provide each of them with individual kleenex packs. I wanted to ensure their safety in the classroom by preventing the spread of any virus, especially Covid 19. My students felt very special and were happy to receive them. They used them as needed and received extras as needed. Since my students are low-income, some could not afford to own kleenex packs. Also, this helped them feel less backward because they didn't have to ask for a tissue publicly.”

  • A Clean and Safe Learning Environment

Thanks to your donation, my students were able to learn in a clean and healthy environment. The Pandemic has affected my students' lives in so many ways. They and their parents have lived terrified of becoming infected and sick. Many of them have lost someone due to this virus. I wanted my students to know that I care about them and their well-being. My students felt safe learning in person because they trusted that our classroom was consistently disinfected throughout the day. This project helped my students' physical and mental wellness so that they can thrive in the classroom.”

  • Reading Rewards for Scholars

    Funded May 5, 2020

Thank you so much for supporting this project! In addition to having books to read during the Pandemic, my students were motivated by the reading rewards. Through friendly competition and goal setting, students were able to be a reward for reading during this difficult and stressful time.

Our students are so resilient and they are doing their best with virtual learning. We allow them space and time to read as well as time to socialize. I enjoy their conversations, particularly about books and characters. They love recommending books to one another. Not only do they enjoy reading, but they also enjoy bookmarks, cute pencils, fun erasers, and student medals.

Because literacy is essential, we must do all we can to inspire them. As a result, they are becoming self-motivated to read more and more. They also improve their reading comprehension and vocabulary.
