Mailboxes for Organization
Funded Feb 8, 2019Donors Choose does it again! I am so thankful that my students have the opportunity to benefit from this wonderful group. My students are always learning and needing places to keep their notes and assessments before taking them home. These mail boxes have been great for that! Students are able to put their homework, notes, graded work, and handouts in these mailboxes for them to stay in a safe place until they go home in their weekly folders.
I am so thankful for the opportunities that Donors Choose supply for teachers to take surveys, do new things with our students, and more to earn credits that go back to our kids. My students took the google interland lesson, and loved it. Part of this funding came from that! So, thank you google and thank you Donors Choose. I will forever be appreciative for these opportunities to help my students have what they need to succeed.”

Funded Nov 11, 2018Thank you so much for your support of my classroom. My students and I are so grateful.
These KEVA planks have been a wonderful addition to our classroom. Students regularly ask to have a 'STEM Challenge' and build something amazing. We have started doing STEM Challenge on Friday afternoons. Students choose something to build as a class. We recently studied Native Americans and their lives, so students chose to build a Native American village. We also recently hatched chicks. One STEM challenge was for students to build a dream chicken coop. They work in groups of around 5 students and build team work as well. Once time is up, we go around and each person gives two positive comments about another building. It is creating positivity, creative problem solving, and so much more!
When these KEVA planks arrived, my students were ecstatic. They were asking how the tracking was progressing and insisted that we go down to the office to bring them upstairs as soon as they were delivered. They helped me to put the bin together and open the many blocks.
I love watching my students try something, learn that it wasn't successful and then watch their minds work to change things to make their creation work. We will continue to use these to build, create, and discover weekly. I can not thank you enough for your support!”

Funded Nov 7, 2018I cannot begin to share how thankful I am for your generosity and support of my students. The kids were part of this project from beginning to end. They helped me choose books that they would love, they helped me open the many boxes that arrived, and they are now reading the books faster than I could have imagined.
When the books first started arriving, there were about 7 boxes outside our classroom door. They squealed and all tried to grab a box. They helped open the boxes with the most excited faces. Some students started 'claiming' books right off the bat. One student even grabbed the entire Junie B. Jones set and walked away saying she'd be back after she read them all! We have started a check out system like the library and kids are constantly finishing books and shopping for new ones. I have never seen them more excited to read.
I have also had some visitors from other grades stop by asking about the books. I have a number of second graders who are already excited for third grade just because of this library. I am so excited to share these books with my current students and all of my students to come. I know that they appreciate reading books that they are interested in.
Thank you so much for supporting my students, I truly cannot begin to say how grateful I am. I smile every time I look around and see them with their heads in a book. Thank you again.
Have a great holiday season!”

Ms. Futrell
Hatching Up Learning
Funded May 18, 2018I can not begin to thank you enough for your contributions to my classroom. I am so thankful for your donations to allow my students to get hands on, real life learning opportunities.
I am so excited to hatch this spring with this incubator. The all around windows will give my students the ability to look into the incubator as they watch the eggs get ready to hatch. We will complete a 21 day project, looking at pictures of what they chicks look like inside the egg each day. We will count down until they hatch. I am excited to see the look on my student's faces when they see the first pip, up until the egg fully hatches.
Thank you again for contributing to my project. I am so thankful for donors being willing to support my students and their needs.”

Funded Mar 27, 2018I can not begin to thank you enough for your contributions to my classroom. These supplies have helped my students learn in their small group setting. My students were thrilled when they heard that this project had been funded. They were so thankful that they would be using 'new markers' that 'actually worked'. They had reminded me very often that their markers were not working. Often times, the marker worked more like an eraser since it was so low on ink.
These supplies have really helped my students learn. I am a teacher who prefers to play more games or activities to learn, as opposed to worksheets. With this, I use my white boards and smart pals daily. Those both cannot be used without dry erase markers. Thank you so much for allowing us to get what we needed for those hands on learning opportunities. The time timer is used daily, almost all day. My students and I both need that visual to keep us on track. Finally, the chart paper has allowed me to make colorful, interactive anchor charts to help my visual learners get the information.
Thank you again for contributing to my project. I am so thankful for donors being willing to support my students and their needs.”

Funded Mar 27, 2018I can not begin to thank you enough for your contributions to my classroom. These bean bags have helped my students get comfortable and have their own space to read their books. I wish that you could have been a fly on the wall when I told them that our project was funded. They were already planning where they would make their quiet place and how they would love reading there.
These bean bags have now traveled with me from the kindergarten classroom, to a short stop in a second grade classroom, and they are now loved with my third graders. They still provide the same quiet and comfortable space for my students to read their novels. When I moved to my new school, these bean bags were the first thing that the curious students noticed. They were so excited to start coming to my classroom for reading because they got to sit in the bean bag chairs.
Thank you again for contributing to my project. I am so thankful for donors being willing to support my students and their needs.”

Funded Dec 16, 2017Thank you from the bottom of my heart for contributing to my classroom. The impact of your donation has been felt by all of my students and there is already an improvement in their writing. My students have felt so special to have their very own writing folders. We have a large word wall in our classroom, but it is special for the students to have their own copy of a word wall in their folders. This way, they have our class sight words, as well as other words that each child uses often in their own writing. This is special because it makes the word wall their own.
My students were so excited when I let them know that you had so generously donated to our classroom. They were most excited about the new crayons. The students brought their own crayons at the beginning of the year, but as you can imagine, they are not in great shape at this point in the year. They were ecstatic to change out their crayon boxes with the new crayons. This helps a lot in their illustrations of their writing. They have fresh new colors and none are missing! They can express their creativity with rainbow colored fish, purple beards, pink princesses, blue and green birds, and a rainbow garbage truck. They have such creative minds, and it is wonderful to see them express that.
We use these writing folders on a daily basis. They get so excited and run to the cart with our folders on them the minute that I mention that we are starting writing. I cannot thank you enough for your generous donation to my students. The writing skills that they are learning in kindergarten are so important to their writing in the future. They will take these skills and grow and develop in their writing. This has been helped greatly by the use of these writing folders that I have been able to create thanks to you. Thank you for helping my students grow!”
