ABCs, Do You Know Me?
Funded May 3, 2022Thank you so much for your generosity! Your donation was a great way to start off a brand new school year. These activities have been a fun and exciting way to introduce and review the letters of the alphabet. My students have been so excited to use these centers everyday during our literacy block. They have been able to practice the names and sounds of each letter. How exciting for the students to have these new materials to instill in them a life long love of learning! Thank you again for your kind generosity!”

Funded Mar 10, 2019Thank you once again for your generous donation! My students have been using the activities that we received for the past couple of weeks and they're having so much fun while learning. The activities have been used during our center rotations at my guided teacher table as well as a "may do" choice when students have finished their work early. I have noticed a growth in my students' math skills by incorporating these activities into our daily routine. This would not have been possible if it was not for your kind donation toward our classroom. A big thank you!”

Language for All
Funded Dec 14, 2018Thank you once again for your generous donation! My students have been using the activities that we received for the past couple of weeks and they're having so much fun while learning. The activities have been used during our center rotations as well as a "may do" when students have finished their work early. Through the use of these activities, my students have been building their oral language skills. I have noticed a growth in some of the student's English language proficiency. This would not have been possible if it was not for your kind donation toward our classroom. A big thank you again!”

Make Learning Fun!
Funded Aug 24, 2018Thank you so much for your generosity! Your donation was a great way to start off a new school year. My students have been so excited to use these centers everyday during our literacy block. They have been able to practice blending sounds into words using the Touch and Read Phonics Match. The nonfiction sight word readers have been a great addition to our leveled library. The readers provide the students with high-interest topics that also contain a great amount of sight-word practice. How exciting for the students to have these new materials to instill in them a life long love of reading! Thank you!”

An App a Day
Funded Jan 15, 2018Thank you again for your generous donation toward my classroom! My students were jumping for joy when we received our tablets. They practically beg me everyday to do centers because they love getting the chance to use the tablets. The best part is that they are having fun while learning! It definitely makes a teacher's heart happy to see students so engaged and excited to learn. Currently, we are using sight word apps on the tablets to improve students' recognition of these words instantly, which will improve their reading comprehension. Thank you again!”

We Love Reading
Funded Dec 23, 2016Thank you again for your generous donation toward my classroom. My students have been loving the new cart that holds our leveled books. On Mondays the students go to the cart and select the books that they would like to read for the week. Each student is able to select a book that is on their current reading level. This is a big deal to them because they used to just choose a book off the shelf and then become frustrated because they can not understand most of the words because the book is not on their level. I have enjoyed the past couple of weeks seeing the joy of reading in my students because they are no longer struggling.”

Help Me Learn to Read
Funded Aug 19, 2016Thank you once again for your generous donation toward my classroom. My students were so excited to see all the fabulous activities that they will now be able to use during centers and guided reading. One of the activities is on syllables. This is an area where my students seem to always struggle. However, the first time my students used this activity, they picked up the concept immediately and enjoyed playing while learning. We cannot wait to enjoy the rest of the activities as they school year moves on. Thank you once again!”

Future Writers of America
Funded Feb 9, 2016Thank you once again for your generous donation toward our classroom. My first graders love the magnetic letters, photo cards, and talking prompts. Every morning we start our day with "Morning Meeting". During morning meeting, I have a student pull out a talking prompt card. Once I read the prompt out loud to the class, I give them a quiet minute to think to themselves. Then, I go around the circle and each student shares their answer with the class. My students love these talking prompts! During guided reading, my students have been enjoying using the magnetic letters to form words. Once I tell the students the words, they sound the word out in their head and then use the magnetic letters to spell out the word. At the journal center, my students have been using the photo cards to enhance their writings. They are able to flip through the pictures, find an animal they want, and use the facts on the back to inspire and give then some ideas to include in their writing.”

Make Science Come Alive!
Funded Dec 4, 2015Thank you so much for your contributions to my project! My students were thrilled when I told them that due to your generosity, they will have the opportunity to enhance their learning experience.
My first grade students use the National Geographic: Reach for Reading program. We are in Unit 4 and are currently studying different plant and animal life cycles. The Life Cycle Kit that our classroom received has enhanced their learning. Inside the kit there are plastic representations of the frog, butterfly, chicken, and plant life cycle. Having an actual representation of each life cycle helps my students who are visual learners with truly understanding each stage of the life cycle by bringing it to life. The kit included stamps that I had my students use to represent the order of the butterfly life cycle and then create a writing which went into their portfolio. In the spring, when the weather gets warmer, my student will use the Lima beans and window greenhouse to grow a plant. This will help them learn about the life cycle of a plant as well as the different parts to a plant.
The Family Kit included puzzles, dolls, and pictures of families from many different cultures. This kit will be used in the future when we study families. It will help my first graders learn key vocabulary (mother, father, grandfather, etc.). It will also open their eyes to just how different families can be. Not all families are the same.
Again thank you for your generosity!”
