    Thank you for funding my Donors Choose project, "Teachers Need Tech Too". I felt like a kid at Christmas when I received the box! I was excited for all the possibilities that I would be able to explore with the access that the color printer provides.

    With this printer, I am able to print out science and social studies sheets for my students that allow them to explore the content beyond what black and white copies provide. I am also able to print out color copies of the student stories that I need for my guided reading groups.

  • Current Events That Kids Will Enjoy

    Thank you for funding our Donors Choose project, "Current Events That Kids Will Enjoy". The students were beyond excited when we received their first issue. They couldn't wait to see what was inside of this "magical" magazine that I described to them.

    My goal was to create a love of informational texts for the students. I have used Scholastic News in the past and I love how the students transition from being intimidated by informational text, to embracing it, and developing a love for it.

    The Scholastic News has not only proven to be a valuable tool for developing a love for informational text, but it has also helped to drive instruction in my classroom. Two of the magazines that we have used in the classroom tied directly to the content in science and social studies.

    My colleague and I used the October 3, 2022, issue on Fossils to tie directly into our unit on the formation of fossils. The article helped my students produce a persuasive essay about the sale of dinosaur fossils, and even spilled over into the stem lab where our fourth graders learned how to create bar graphs to represent the number of fossils found on the different continents. The students are very fortunate to receive the support from your company. Thank you for your kindness and contribution to our days at school.

    Thank you for funding my Donors Choose project, "Ipad Mini for Professional Development". I felt like a kid at Christmas when I received the box! I was excited for all the possibilities that I would be able to explore with the access that the Ipad Mini provides.

    Over the summer I took a class that taught me how to use Google Slides. This program allowed me to create a digital teacher planner. I learned how to create hyperlinks to pages, create notes pages, and even create pages to record attendance and grades. I am also able to attend virtual meetings easily and collaborate with my colleagues. Most importantly, this device allows to me to move around during a lesson while taking notes and monitoring learning.

  • Escape Into Collaborative Problem Solving With Breakout EDU!

    Thank you so much for your generous donation to our classroom. When we first received the login information, my students were extremely excited. They were familiar with the concept of breakout rooms, and I let them know that they would be able to use their knowledge to crack the codes I this program. The units that we tied the program into was The Thirteen Colonies, and the American Revolution.

    Breakout EDU is an amazing program that I use two different ways with my students. I use it before a content area is taught to engage the students in the topic that we will begin to learn about. The second way that I use this program is at the end of a unit, when I want to see how much my students have learned. This program helped my students to work collaboratively, and learn the valuable skill of problem solving. This is a tool that I am so happy I was able to add to my teacher tool box.”

I have requested a new science weather station will allow for the connection of real live data to classroom concepts.
