  • Bringing the Power of Color to Our Classroom

    Funded Dec 28, 2023

Thank you for helping us obtain a color printer for our classroom. With this printer, we have been able to print pictures to go along with our units in social studies. Students have been able to publish and print their essays. The printer also allowed students to print materials to add to their t-shirt book projects.

The printer has also enabled me to print important things when the school copy machines are tied up. When a student has lost a paper, I am able to quickly print out another. I have also been able to print out bulletin board words and letters to brighten up our classroom.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Flood

  • Motivating Readers With Graphic Novels

    Funded Jan 6, 2024

I can't thank you enough for your donation that allowed me to add many graphic novels to my classroom library. I was so excited to open the boxes and show my students all of the great books I was able to order. Several students had been pleading with me to order Dork Diaries. I was able to get about nine of them. I haven't been able to keep them on the shelf.

Graphic novels hold the attention of even my most reluctant readers. Although I don't like that they pass on so many wonderful books that are not graphic novels, I still can't help but be thrilled that they want to read and have books that hold their interest!”

  • Restocking Classroom Essentials

    Funded Dec 15, 2023

I would like to thank you once again for your generous donation. We received our supplies at the time of year where we are running low on everything. Unfortunately, we do not receive these types of materials (colored cardstock, laminating sheets, colored paper) from the school. I started the school year by purchasing some of these things with my own money. Receiving the replenishment was right on time.

Surprisingly, the PENCILS made my heart smile more than anything. What students do with pencils will always be an unsolved mystery for teachers! Most teachers have yet to find a solution for helping students keep up with their pencils. We are always in need of pencils so thank you for funding this project. We have enough to get us through the rest of the school year.

My students loved using the markers when making charts when completing assignments with their groups. Our classroom is nicely decorated because we have been able to use the cardstock and laminating sheets to make bulletin boards letters and charts. Your donation was greatly appreciated!”

  • Get on Board for Fun and Learning!

    Funded Oct 23, 2023

Thanks again for your donation. Your donation allowed me to purchase several board games for my sixth graders. I wanted them to be able to step away from the idea that they couldn't have fun without using technology! I wanted them to be able to actually "play" together and have fun. I thought the board games would also help them improve their social skills. Many times, my students want to simply put on their headphones and play solo games on their laptops. So, how would they take to being asked to play these "back in the day" (their words lol) games? They loved them and had so much fun!

My grade partner and I used a "game day" as an incentive. Students would need to "buy" the incentive with their points. I wasn't sure if they would, but they did! It was so amazing watching them have some friendly competition. They worked so well together, reading the directions, setting up and putting away the games, helping each other learn how to play, etc. We set up stations and they rotated through them so they could experience all of the games. Of course, my grade partner and I joined in the fun since some of the games were from our childhood! Now the students will reach for the games during indoor recess. This project was a major success!”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Flood

  • Amplifying Education With Headphones!

    Funded Oct 1, 2023

I extend my deepest gratitude for your generous contribution that funded headphones for my students. Your support has made a significant impact on their education, particularly in completing assignments and engaging in individualized learning platforms like iReady. With the new headphones, students have been able to complete online lessons and assignments, enhancing their understanding and participation. Students who are unable to independently read our texts can listen to them be read aloud online.

Each student having their own headphones eliminates the struggle of low volume, enabling them to concentrate and participate fully. The results are evident in their improved test scores, showcasing the positive influence your donation has had on their academic achievements. Your thoughtful contribution has truly transformed the educational experience for my students. We are grateful for your support. Thank you for your commitment to their success.”

  • Cultivating Strong Readers and Writers

    Funded Aug 24, 2023

I want to express the tremendous amount of gratitude that I have for your donation to my very first donors choose project. I requested a set of books for my professional development. I needed to learn effective strategies, lessons, and activities to help my struggling readers.

These books have helped me transform my reading classroom. As a teacher, I am so much more confident because I have a toolbox of resources to assess and provide my students with what they need. I am no longer pulling my hair out trying to figure out how and what to teach them during my small group instruction. I have been able to help my students with comprehension, fluency, vocabulary, and writing. My students love having more individualized instruction, especially the ones who are behind and struggling during whole group instruction.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Flood
