Individual and Safe Magic Carpet Rides!
Funded Oct 23, 2020What can I say but thank you, thank you, thank you from the bottom of my heart?! Your instant generosity in funding my project for individual alphabet carpet squares for Kindergarten and First-grade classrooms was so appreciated. We currently have Kindergarten and First-grade classes of 16 scholars each back in the building and the carpet squares are being put to great use every single day. The carpet squares are so bright and colorful and are a great addition to our Covid protocol-friendly rooms! Our students are able to have a more comfortable spot to socially distance on our floors as they gather for ELA and math lessons and they are able to carry their carpet square with them to store at their seat easily. Your donation truly helped alleviate some of the stress that comes with re-opening a school during this year of Covid-19. Truly, thank you so much!”

Funded Sep 17, 2020Thank you so much for helping to provide our school, our teachers, our students, and myself with peace of mind as we welcomed back students to in-person learning. We were able to have 38 kindergarteners and 6 first graders in the building for the months of October and November and we had no Covid-19 cases amongst in-person students or in-person faculty and staff. This ability to safely provide a high-quality education (especially in the most formative years) during a national pandemic is thanks to you and your generosity! We appreciate you more than you know!”

Funded Aug 22, 2019Thank you so incredibly much for your support of the scholars at our school. Our students will be able to use these Kindles to improve their reading fluency by listening to books read by fluent, theatrical readers; they will be able to improve their reading comprehension by playing games with factual, inferential, and critical thinking questions; they will be able to improve their math facts fluency skills by doing interactive flash cards; and they will improve their math computational knowledge as they play interactive math games. I am so excited to share this amazing technology with our scholars- we are so so appreciative!”

Funded Aug 12, 2019Thank you from the bottom of my heart for the resources that you provided for our classroom and especially our independent learning centers. My students absolutely loved seeing the new chapter books and fairy tales in our listening center and all the new organization tools for our technology and listening comprehension centers. All students love getting to use technology to deepen their understanding and it is exciting to have it more organized for them so they are even more easily able to access it.
This project has truly allowed us to expand our offering to our students during independent work time and further engage them in their own learning!”

Funded Aug 12, 2019My students have limited space to store their own supplies. These seat sacks help them to keep their materials on the back of their chairs! These seat sacks will help them with their organizational skills, which is needed as they get older. Students in the early grades are learning organizational skills, and seat sacks help them to manage their belongings neatly.
To better meet the various needs of my students, I can place differentiated work in their own seat sacks to encourage the learning of my students at all levels.
These seat sacks will encourage independence and teach many organizational skills. Thank you so much for helping my kiddos as we learn how to be organized!”

Funded Aug 6, 2019Thank you so much for being willing to support our classroom! Your generous donation to this project made it possible and my scholars and I are so excited! When I told scholars that the project got funded they literally cheered with excitement! It makes me so excited that my 5 year olds are so enthused about learning; and that would not have been possible without you! These kindles will allow me to individualize work and make learning fun for my scholars; they will be learning without even realizing that they are. Thank you will never express how grateful we are!”

Funded Aug 13, 2019Thank you so much for providing our second grade students with their own personal copies. We are so excited to read Keena Ford and the Second Grade Mix Up with the second graders this year. This novel will provide a mirror for many of the students in our classroom especially our African-American girl students. This novel study will also help our students develop a growth mindset as they transition from primary to upper elementary as they read about a student their age who has problems but perseveres. Students will learn about empathy and the power of grit and friendship as well.
Many of our students will see themselves reflected in the novel and learn that with patience, love, and support we can all achieve while we also engage in rigorous content through the Common Core Standards.
Our classes will grow and learn together as we hold discussion and literature circles during our reading. Thank you so much for helping to bring this wonderful novel to our classroom.”

Funded Jan 18, 2019Thank you from the bottom of my heart for the resources that you provided for our classroom and especially our independent learning centers. My students absolutely loved seeing the books about dinosaurs for the listening center and all the new comprehension centers. All students love getting to use dry erase markers during centers and the new non-fiction and fiction comprehension centers allowed them to do that.
This project has truly allowed us to expand our offering to our students during independent work time and further engage them in their own learning!”

Diverse Books for Diverse Readers
Funded Jul 26, 2017Thank you so much for supporting my classroom in obtaining so many diverse books. These books have been used in whole group read aloud lessons, small groups, and take home books for the 57 children in our classroom. It is so gratifying to see students reading books that have characters that look like them.
One special story I would like to share involves one of the little girls in our class. I was instructing her to choose a new book to take home that would be a better fit for her reading level and she was searching through the Step 8 bin. She came across a Dyamonde Daniel book and the main character on the front cover had two little Afro puff pigtails just like her! Her smile was heartwarming as she said this was the one she wanted to read.
Thank you again for making moments like that possible in my classroom! Your donation is much appreciated!”

Listen! We Really Love Reading!
Funded May 19, 2017I am so incredibly thankful that you were able to make my classroom dreams come true and help supply our students with a wonderful listening center. The technology of the listening center and portable CD player has been a God-send item for our centers time and for students reading below grade-level.
The listening center is used every day during our Literacy Center block. Students are able to enjoy interesting texts that may be above their reading level and therefore inaccessible to them is they attempted to read them on their own. Since the listening center is reading the book to them, they can access the text and enjoy books that are more engaging. I often hear laughter from this center and the kids love having it on their schedule!
The portable CD player goes home every night with one of our students who reads below grade-level. Again, having the ability to listen to books being read to her that are above her independent reading level opens up a whole new world of characters, plot, vocabulary, and engagement for our sweet scholar!”
