  • Sensory Toys

    Funded Aug 12, 2021

Thank you so much for your donations for the classroom. By giving the students sensory toys to use daily, has helped them self regulate their needs. Students enjoy having many options to choose from to when they need to self regulate. The liquid timers, and fidget toys are used through out the day. Students use them during academic work, in addition to calm anixety or stress. The fidget toys are a great addition to the calm down area, the bean bag is a place for the students to go when they need a quiet moment, self regulate or to decompress.”

  • Visualizing With Pictures

    Funded Jan 18, 2020

Thank you so much for your donations. You have brought so much joy to the students in the classroom with the supplies that you have given them. The printer has help us tremendously, because of you I get to bring their visuals to life. Their communication boards are vibrant and the icons are actually come to life. Such as the icon for banana is not on the grayscale anymore, it is actually yellow!!! Now I can print story boards in color and that matches the story that was read. The students can make the real connections and communicate their knowledge with the help of the sentence starts and visual pictures.”

  • Ready to Learn

    Funded Dec 15, 2015

Thank you all for your donanations for our new classroom supplies. The students love looking at the books and being read to. Some of the students have their preferred book. The students will bring a book to myself or classroom assistants to be read to. While the students are being read to, I can see that they are engaged in the book looking at the pictures and some are even tracking. The new classroom toys such as the games and leapfrog items are a great tool. The students are engaging by sharing and learning social skills. Even though the students are non verbal, they are smiling and engaging with one another while playing with their new toys.

You all have touched our hearts with your donanations. The students now have more items to learn from and explore with one another. I use many of the items as teaching tools. This keeps the students more engaged with hands on manipulative's and developing language.

We are so grateful and amazed by your generosity.”

  • Supplies for Our New Autism Class

    Funded Jan 22, 2015

Words can not express how grateful we are for your generous donation to our classroom. I wanted to provided you a little more information on our class. This is the first year that LAUSD has a Autism Alternate Curriculum class. So that means, the students in the class have moderate to severe Autism. We have students that use assistive technology devices, learning how to communicate using language, and learning how to write and hold a pencil. Sometimes it is hard for the students to stay focused on their given task. However, with the items you purchased for our classroom, helps them stay on task for 5 - 10 minutes. Which is huge in our class.

What you have done for our class by providing the manipulative's, access to the curriculum ( printer), music instruments and train set ( social play), helps the students develop socially, language, and academically. You have touch these students lives in a way that provides them to grow on a daily basis in our classroom. Most of my students will carry on with me for the next year ( K-2) and they will benefit from your kind gesture.

We and future students will forever be grateful for your donation to our classroom.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Jena Ferrara

I am a brand new teacher, working in a brand new classroom for students who have Autism and are on the alternate curriculum. In my classroom I am trying to create a visually structured educational classroom for students who are in Kindergarten through Second grade. A majority of the students in my class are all English Language Learners. The students in my class are full of life and enjoy coming to school. My classroom is on an elementary campus, and we are the only Autism/ Alternate curriculum classroom. I would describe our school as safe environment for our students. We are a Title One school and all students are provided with free meals. We do our best to promote further learning for our students, such as intervention, tutoring before and after school. In addition we offer Saturday school to students who need extra support in English Language Arts.
