Teaching through the arts will present difficult science concepts visually, making them more easy to understand. Students will make observations and drawings of plant life. We will share our drawings and observations as they were drawn through the naked eye. Students will then collect the parts of a plant and draw what they look like under the microscope. The microscope will help them compare what they look like under the naked eye versus under a microscope. Integrating Visual Art in science will boost critical thinking, teaching students to take the time to be more careful and thorough in how they observe the world. Making Visual Art part of science will reach students who might not otherwise be engaged in classwork. It will allow them the opportunity to experience and develop their natural, spontaneous explorations of their world into works of art and scientific observations. This microscope will give students the the tools they need to talk about and describe objects and reflect on their experiences through the visual arts.
