  • Making Math Fun!

    Funded Dec 15, 2017

The minute these math games arrived in the classroom, my students have been chomping at the bit to get their hands on them. Just based on their fun colors and interactive nature, they knew that these would be materials they love! I even used one of the games as a guided math activity.

One of the students actually exclaimed, "That was fun!" when we were finished. It fills my heart with so much joy to make math, an activity that can be anxiety inducing for many, fun and interactive.

These games have brought joy into my classroom and for that, I thank you!”

  • Ear Buds for My Little Buds

    Funded Sep 4, 2017

Thank you so much for your help getting my students headphones! Now, they are able to do multiple online based interventions in the classroom that are vitally important to their progress. My students use these headphones everyday and now they love getting on the computer. They are able to focus on their tasks and get excited to move up levels. The discrete microphones also make it easy to test students who speak English as a second language. The microphones allows the program to listen to them speak and assess their level.

Thank you so much for all your help!”

  • Inspiring Readers Through Book Clubs

    Funded Feb 9, 2017

My students have really jumped into book clubs with both feet! This was my first time incorporating book club into my classroom and I was worried about giving up so much control to my students and making them responsible for their own learning. The result has been beyond my expectations. They were so excited to get to use books they love and to get to talk about them in a less structured and ultimately more fun way! We are now at the point where they're doing their final projects and some of their ideas are amazing! One group is doing a puppet show, another is making a comic book! They have truly come alive with this project and none of it would have been possible without your generosity! Thank you so much!”

  • Helping Students Become Authors

    Funded Dec 22, 2016

My kids are really enjoying their new supplies. The ability to laminate and preserve their work is very exciting. They even get to keep their new books in their book boxes to go back to again and again. It has given them a special pride in their work. I also used the laminator to make individualized name tags with little cartoons of their faces. We had a blast picking out which cartoons looked like each kid in the room and now they use these name tags to display all kinds of work in the classroom. This resources has created an amazing way to build excitement around reading and writing and to help my young writer take pride in their work. Thank you so much!”

  • Paper and Pencils Galore!

    Funded Dec 1, 2016

Through your generous donations, my kids now have the opportunity to track their progress using their new notebooks. This is a huge part of fostering their growth through the curriculum. The students in my room also get to come to school worry free because I have plenty of supplies for them to use. It can be a daily struggle with those who aren't getting the resources they need from home. Thanks to you, I don't have to reach into my own pocket to provide them with these vital resources.

I have now gotten many projects funded through Donors Choose and I'm not sure how I would teach to my best ability with the amazing support I've gotten. Thank you all again.”

  • A Space for Just Right Books

    Funded Sep 8, 2016

    Dear Donors,

Your donations have allowed me to provide personalized spaces for my students to keep their favorite books. This allows me to cultivate a love for reading with my students, and provides them with opportunities to develop an identity as a reader. My students loved being able to decorate their space and make it their own. They take pride in their book collection and love being able to share what they've collected with others. These spaces allow students to develop a love for reading and guide them in beginning to find their reading identity. Without your help, these amazing opportunities would not be possible.”

  • Earbuds for My Little Buds

Thank you so much for helping provide my students with earbuds to practice math, reading, science and social studies using computer based programs. The students have benefited through being able to listen to guided practice on the computer. The earbuds help them to really concentrate on their computer work and keeps other noise out while they are working. The kids were so excited when the earbuds arrived and keeping them organized and working is a great lesson is responsibility. Thank you again for all your support.”

  • New Teacher's Classroom Library

    Funded Aug 25, 2016

    Dear Donors,

Thank you so much for supporting me in my first year as a teacher. As I prepared for this new challenge over the summer, I felt scared that I would not be able to provide the text rich environment that emerging readers need in order to progress. Thanks to you, I now have the opportunity to expose my young scholars to a variety of different texts to get them excited to read. The children were so excited when the books came in and I gave them the very special task of opening and organizing the books. Thanks to your help, I am now able to give an experience to my children that I would not have been able to provide without you.”

  • Back to School Essentials

    Funded Jun 17, 2016

    Dear Donors,

The supplies you have donated to my classroom have already been put to great use. During the first week of school, my students got the opportunity to decorate their own personal container to keep their books in. Most of my kids do not have the resources the markers and crayons they want and I was so excited to break out my brand new classroom sets of markers, crayons and colored pencils.

The students had a great time using their new supplies. I was surprised by the creativity and thoughtfulness they brought to the project. They had a great time creating these personal spaces and were excited to show me what they had done. Now, their books take new life and become personal artifacts that they are eager to explore.

My students also created a class poster depicting all of the different subjects they'd like to write about this year. I have some truly talented artists in my classroom! Using our new colored pencils, the students turned their thoughts and ideas into colorful drawings. They worked together to create a wonderful anchor chart which will hand in our room for the year.

Without the supplies provided by you, the donors, these activities would not have been possible! Thank you so much for your generosity. My students and I are forever grateful.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Braun

My name is Ms. Braun and I am a brand new teacher trying to build up the many supplies I'll need for my first year teaching. My kids have a passion for learning and come to school every day excited and ready for a challenge. Most of the kids in the school live within a few blocks, making the connection between the school and the community very strong. We celebrate the diversity of our school in order to build a culture of respect. These kids, who come from low income households, don't always get everything they need at home and rely on the school and their teachers as a "home base." This makes the relationship between student and teacher extremely important. My kids see their teachers not just as adults who tell them what to do but as their guides in education and in life.
