  • Basic Care Items

    Funded Nov 13, 2023

Thank you so much to for your support in buying some basic care items for my students. I watched as students came to school in obvious physical discomfort. It's difficult to put in full effort and learn in that state. It has been so nice that students are able to feel comfortable and ready for school each day. They now know that they can come to me and ask for basic supplies they need during the school day and even can take it home with them to use whenever. It has created a more comfortable classroom and helped open conversations about students basic needs.

    thanks!”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Braun

  • Listening to Lovely Books!

    Funded Jan 26, 2023

The students in my classroom are from a variety of countries, backgrounds and experiences. Being able to listen to books means opening a world outside of their own that they couldn't otherwise access. Using these materials, my students are able to choose what books they'd like to hear and listen to them with their friends in class. These shared experience are so exciting for students and makes books that they aren't able to read yet accessible.

Many students who were otherwise uninterested in reading have become lovers of the listening center. This center allows students to experience more books than I could possible read to them.”

  • Live Butterflies in First Grade!

    Funded Dec 14, 2022

My students had so much fun learning about and watching their butterflies grow! It's one thing to read about in books, but when you get to see them grow right in front of you, the learning is fun and engaging.

They loved releasing the butterflies at our local park and even got to add them to a garden that was already there. It was such a fun day and the kids learned so much. It isn't often I get to provide such hands on experiences for my students. Thank you so much for making it possible for my first graders to experience science in a hands on way.”

  • Mirrors and Windows Through Books!

    Funded Mar 18, 2022

Thank you so much for the amazing multicultural books! My kids have really enjoyed reading books that mirror their lives and help them explore the outside world. I saw happy when one of my students picked up a book and said "Ms. Braun, this girl looks like me!". She was so excited to see a book that she saw herself in. I actually ended up buying her a copy as a surprise.

During our regular phonics lessons, students are doing the hard work of learning to read. Having these books in my room helps me provide the joy of reading that we sometimes miss when we're working so hard.

Thank you again for your support!”

  • Pop It Literacy

    Funded Jan 31, 2022

Pop its were the craze I never saw coming! All the sudden students starting showing up with different colors, shapes and sizes, even a pop it backpack! Using these alphabet pop its has reignited students love for learning. Not only are they excited to use the new supplies that they think of as toys, they also incorporate movement and multi-sensory learning which I am always trying to find ways to incorporate in my classroom.

The students love the pop its and it has encouraged some to practice skills there were previously reluctant to practice. Thanks so much!”

  • Technology in the Classroom and at Home

    Funded Aug 10, 2020

Given the unprecedented education situation that the pandemic has presented, my district provided each student with their own laptop to use at home. Although it provided access to online learning, the challenge of keeping things working and usable at home was difficult.

These adaptors and mice made the technology more accessible for our little learners who don't yet have much experience using laptops. Things like clicking and dragging were once frustrating experiences and now students are able to do so with ease.”

  • Distance Learning Support

    Funded Aug 11, 2020

My students have been thrown in a very unusual situation: online learning. There are a MILLION reasons why teaching students (especially first graders) online is infinitely more difficult than in person. Many of those challenges can't be changed. When embarking on this online teaching journey, I tried to think of any little thing that would help make online learning a little easier so I could lessen that burden for my little 6 year olds! YOU have helped me provide the resources to students that make this feel doable.

Mice help them manipulate online materials in ways their little hands can't normally accomplish and the headphone adapter helps them use the headphones they already have at home.

In a time where every little things seems incredibly difficult, I thank you for making online school that much easier for both me and my students.”

  • Live Butterflies in the Classroom!

    Funded Nov 7, 2019

Thank you so much for giving me this amazing opportunity! the kids will be so excited to have butterflies in spring! There are so many things I want to do with my students but just don't have funding. You all give me the chance to provide the best learning environment that I can! Thank you so much!”

My name is Ms. Braun and I am a brand new teacher trying to build up the many supplies I'll need for my first year teaching. My kids have a passion for learning and come to school every day excited and ready for a challenge. Most of the kids in the school live within a few blocks, making the connection between the school and the community very strong. We celebrate the diversity of our school in order to build a culture of respect. These kids, who come from low income households, don't always get everything they need at home and rely on the school and their teachers as a "home base." This makes the relationship between student and teacher extremely important. My kids see their teachers not just as adults who tell them what to do but as their guides in education and in life.
