My classroom has a wide range of students on the Autism Spectrum. I focus on my students' abilities, rather than their disabilities. Autism is an everyday challenge for my students, but when given the correct learning environment I feel that they can be very successful. I work in an urban school district in Pennsylvania with students from low income households. I have 8 amazing students who are all special extremely special to me! On any given day, I may have other students who come to take sensory breaks in my classroom or may just need a cool down area. Our school is made of 93% of the families living at our below the poverty line. All of our students receive free lunches. I like to do something a little special in my classroom to make learning fun.
