Thank you so much for wanting my students to be successful! Although we are not at the start of the year, this will be still an important skill to work on for the last 2/3 of the year with my students. I appreciate everyone who donated to this project and wanted to bring my vision to life!”

  • Classroom Library Refresh

    Funded Jan 24, 2024

Thank you from the bottom of my heart. Thank you for wanting to bring new books into the hands of my students.

These books were so essential to the end of the year this past school year! My students loved the new additions to my library.

Bringing these books into my library, replacing the ones that were previously damaged, really helped rebuild my library in my new school.

These diverse texts were and hit and I can't wait to share them with more students in years to come!

    Thank you again!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Caddigan

  • Gaming Gators!

    Funded Apr 21, 2024

Thank you so much for bringing games to my students.

This year, I was on our school's advisory committee. This block of time is dedicated to building relationships with students. Because of this, we wanted to have board games available to play with. You generously gave to my vision and brought my project to life.

Since you donated these games, the games have been well loved by students and staff alike. Students have reclaimed their childhood with familiar games and built new skills when learning a new game.

    Thank you again.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Caddigan

  • Social Justice en Español!

    Funded Oct 5, 2023

Thank you for bringing this project to my students. I taught a lot of multilingual students this year in my social justice elective and these books came in handy to help them access similar content that other students were learning about.

These books helped them find their voice in regards to social justice and fighting against discrimination. These texts allowed them to raise questions about what they experience in their everyday life and how it is not something they should just accept.

I am proud of the learning my multilingual students did thanks to these texts. And thanks to you!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Caddigan

  • The Lightning Thief - Reading Champions!

    Funded May 15, 2024

You are amazing from bringing my project alive.

My students have loved reading both the graphic novel and the full text of The Lightning Thief. This year we piloted a hybrid unit where kids read parts of both texts. You brought this unit alive by providing my school (and students) with the needed texts so we could accommodate all our students in the grade.

Without you, my students would have had to share texts or only been able to read in class. However, because you donated to this project, all students were able to have their own copy of the text and they could read both in class as well as at home. This benefited them when it came to writing their summative assignments and also engaging at a higher level with the content.

    Thank you again.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Caddigan

  • History that Marches Right Off the Page!

    Funded Nov 16, 2023

You have made such an impact on my 8th graders' learning by sharing this great graphic novel with them! In 8th grade, students in my school take part in a civic action project in their history class, as well as learn about the civil rights movement in their ELA class through a research unit connected to the anchor text Warriors Don't Cry. I was able to support their learning for both of this projects in my elective by having them read March. They connected to John Lewis' character and why he wanted to be part of the movement. They were able to make real world connections to injustices they still see in their community. It even empowered a few students to stand up against injustice in our school.

People always say that books have power, but I saw that in action with how this book changed my students. Thank you so much for providing me with the opportunity to teach this great graphic novel and for bringing the book to my students.”

  • Bring Our Reading Alive with Graphic Novels!

    Funded Mar 15, 2024

Thank you for providing my classes with a selection of graphic novels for our lit circles. These improved engagement with my students and really provided great opportunities for discussion. The variety of texts you brought to my classroom allowed students to see themselves in the text and that also helped them want to come to class and read. These books also opened up new discussions about their own lives, their community and what they value. By bringing this project to life, you opened my students minds to new ideas and make them stronger, most successful students.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Caddigan

  • Social Justice in Literature!

    Funded Aug 3, 2023

The focus of my 8th grade elective class this year has been social justice through literature. A key to this learning has been teaching the novel The Hate U Give. Students are highly engaged in this novel as they can relate to the characters and the events are very similar to things they have either heard in the news or witnessed in their community.

The reading of this novel has been paired with watching the movie and comparing how the novel was written with how it was adapted to film. This has also boosted student engagement significantly.

Because you believed in my project you have empowered students of color to want change in their community and for the people around him. Thank you for choosing my students when you thought about donating!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Caddigan

My students amaze me everyday. Despite living in a high poverty area, the kids I teach are determined, driven and strong willed. They love learning and come to school curious to learn something new. They get excited when previously difficult tasks are suddenly easy for them because they have worked their butts off to become better students. They come to school no matter what with a "can do" attitude. They do not have the easiest life, but they want to be successful and I want them to want to do well.
