We Are Headed Back Home!
Funded Dec 21, 2018Thank you, thank you, thank you! This was my largest Donors Choose project to date and definitely the one with the largest impact. We got back to our new 'old' building last Wednesday and students were just filled with joy. They were so happy to be home. Then, they walked into their classrooms and saw a classroom filled with supplies, decorations and joy.
In one classroom, each student now has their own individual crayon zip lock bag that they can use for writing, independent work and more. When I showed the piles of materials they were receiving they were thrilled. It was better than Christmas morning. And everyone knows, happy teacher makes for happy children! And happy they are! Our school has been filled with so much joy this past weeks and every single donor is a part of that!
Thank you for thinking about our school and thank you for donating to our project.”

Creative Minds: Bringing Art to the Classroom
Funded Jul 29, 2015Thank you so much for your donation to my classroom! Every Friday, every single one of my students come up to me and say: "Today is art Friday!" It is truly their favorite part of the week and they are able to have wonderful filled art Fridays, thanks to you!
So far the students have made lions using forks as paintbrushes, rainbow fish using celery as paint brushes, monster trucks, jellyfish from brown lunch bags, and sunflowers on a rainy down all the while using art supplies from your donation and their imaginations of course!
I have seen art allow students to express their emotions, creativity and ideas. Art allows children flourish and explore the world around them. It is so important to a child's development. Thank you so much for helping to bring art to my students. Your kindness will not be forgotten!”

A Leveled Library for Little Super Readers
Funded Sep 22, 2015Thank you so much for your generous donation to my classroom. Recently, my school had to make serious budget cuts that have been extremely difficult for teachers and students. I cannot begin to explain how helpful your donation is to my classroom and school.
To know that so many of my friends and family and even people I don't know were willing to help my classroom means more than I could ever describe in words.
I have doubt that my students will be thrilled when boxes upon boxes filled with books arrive to our classroom. Many of the books they currently read are copied from online and in black and white. So the simple fact that they will have colorful books will be so exciting to them and definitely will encourage them to read more!
Again from the bottom of my heart, thank you for donating to my classroom. My students and I are incredibly grateful.”

Spelling Materials for My Busy Bees!
Funded Apr 4, 2014Thank you, thank you, thank you! The new learning materials were an amazing addition to my classroom. At the end of the school year, it was definitely difficult to keep my students active and engaged, BUT they were in love with all the new learning materials.
I have one student who has a hard time with a lot of stimuli and focusing for long periods of time. He often shakes and screams out uncontrollably. One of the materials purchased through this Donors Chose project was a special seat designed for students who have trouble sitting still for long periods of time. And let me tell you, the seat worked like magic! He took it everywhere he went and became a comfort for him. I will be giving the seat to the teacher who has him next year. By donating you have truly impacted and changed this students' education. I cannot thank you enough.”

Ready to Read- The Books are all We Need!
Funded Mar 10, 2014My books have arrived and my students are beyond excited! We have been reading a new book from the collection everyday at dismissal and they absolutely love it. The new sight word books have given some of my lower readers the confidence they need to become amazing readers. Although, the most well liked books in the collect are the Word Family books. Everyday we meet two new word families and read a story to match the word families. The books allow them to read and explore word families on their own.
Thank you again for your kind donation to the project! These books will not only have an impact on my students this year, but all my students years to come.
Thank you again. Your kindness will not be forgotten!”

Criss Cross Applesauce On A New ABC Rug
Funded Sep 3, 2013Today the new ABC rug arrived! I can't tell you how excited all my students were when they first saw the rug. Before entering the room I told them that someone magical and visited the room and left a surprise for us. One of my most exuberant students was line leader and while I was saying this is quickly peered around me and the door and shouted, IT'S A RUG! All my other kids cheered with excitement. They all quickly found their spot on the rug, each receiving their own perfect letter to sit on. "It's so soft!" "It's so pretty!" "It's so magical!" They all kept telling me.
After eight weeks of being in school, my kindergarteners are certainly tired, but something about the new rug gave them a little extra kick and new burst of love for learning. Today, I had two students sitting on letter A and B practicing their numbers with each other. I was working with a small group of students who were sitting on the letter J, I, Q, W and K. While one of my busiest students was working silently by herself counting out blocks with corresponding numbers. For me, it was a magical moment. I know this moment seems like something that could of happened with any old rug (or no rug at all), But for busy kindergarteners, who love to move dance and play, but also desperately want to learn, they need their space. If I told my kids to work ''in that area over there", bless their hearts, but they would find a million and one things to do other than work to do and touch. But with their own letter and space, their wonderful, curious minds can focused on their task.
So thank you! Thank you, thank you! This rug not only means the world to me and my current students, but all my students to come! Thank you.”
