Don't Just Think It, Make It!
Funded Aug 12, 2021I don't know where to begin except to say thank you. The students are so excited to start making project this year as they head into the classroom for the first time. Many of the older students immediately started pointing out the new supplies and started conversing about what they wanted to make. I have to say, getting 7th grade boys excited about school is an amazing feet and it happened because of you!!
As we get under way this year and settle into this new routine, I am excited to share all of the projects your donations allowed to happen. Thank you again for your constant support of these amazing young scholars!”

Ms. Discenza

Funded May 4, 2021I am so excited to have the students start using our new printer this coming school year. This will be a new type of technology they have never used and I can't wait to see as they explore the possibilities and make new creations.
Over the last few years, many of my students have been interested in using our Cricut to cut vinyl to make designs on shirts, frames, and many other platforms. This printer and ink will allow them to take much more complex designs and put them out into the world. It is a great next step for them as they mature in our technology program. I am already astounded at what they design, now they will be able to share it beyond our classroom.
Thank you again for you continuous support of my students. Please know it doesn't go unnoticed!”

Ms. Discenza

Funded May 4, 2021Once again, I am simply in awe of the support you have shown my students. The classes that are printing right now were beyond excited when I told them that the new PLA filament was here. We were able to start our first print today and after 6 hours, the first group is done! (see the pictures attached of these prints!).
Your kindness has allowed for so much joy to enter my classroom. I truly wish you could have witnessed their faces when they saw these images they created in the head form into physical things. For many of them, that is the first time that phenomenon happened for them. It's also interesting to see how the mind of a child interprets information differently and how they are willing to take risks on their creation.
Thank you once again for helping fuel a passion for creation, exploration, and most importantly learning in our school.”
With gratitude,
Ms. Discenza

Funded Mar 31, 2021Thank you again for your continuous support of my students. With all the uncertainty of the school year and everyday life, it is such a wonderful thing to know that my students are cared for by such a huge community.
This project will allow students to take the power of a battery to light up any project their brains can develop. They will be able to create switches, light fading, and many more effects with these tools and will also grow the knowledge or how electricity transfers through different materials. As the students are getting older in our technology program, they are more and more willing to experiment and try new areas of expression and this is the perfect tool to do that. In addition, we are an ARTS and DESIGN school so being able to blend those two areas together is perfect for our magnet theme.
Thank you again for your support and I can't wait to share with you all their creations!”

This project was to provide a way for students to take the skills they are learning in their computer science (computer coding) course and apply it to physical computing. This kind of hands on learning is more engaging to students and, honestly, a lot more fun! The chibi chips are programable power sources that will allow students to create interactive art work that lights up at different intervals or commands. They will be able to create switches, light fading, and many more effects with these devices. Funded Dec 26, 2020I can not begin to express my gratitude for your generous donation to my classroom. The iPad and the cases will make an instant impact in my room. My students are going to be ecstatic when they see them!!
With all of the uncertainty right now, I want to have my classroom as well prepared as possible so that when my students come back in, they feel comfortable and at home. By having these two new iPads, I will be able to allow students to continue to work on programs that they have previously but on individual devices so we can stay within CDC guidelines. The closer I get to 1-to-1 devices, the easier it will be for my students to transition back into in person learning.
Again, words can not do justice for how thankful I am. Please know that your donation is making a daily impact in our school!”

Funded Dec 2, 2020So many possibilities have been opened with our new 3Doodler Pens. These devices are a kid friendly way for students who have artistic or engineering interests to take their sketches into the 3 Dimensional world. We have been trying to get these in our building for a few years and I am beyond excited to be able to introduce students to these when we are back in person together.
I was actually on a live class when the shipment arrived with some of my 6th grade students and I showed them what came. They immediately started shooting out ideas of what they wanted to create with them once they were in school. From footballs to towers to candy vending machines (it was almost lunch time for some...), they couldn't wait to start creating. Thank you for bringing so much joy to my students even in a time where joy is hard to find.”

Funded Sep 16, 2020Thank you once again for your amazing support of my students. With distance learning happening right now, it is hard for some of them to be excited for projects and learning when they are out of their normal element. I am beyond excited for when they can come back into our school and see the new video recording and editing area that now exists. This is going to be utilized across all grade levels and across all subjects to help bring their learning to life. I am so humbled with your generosity to help make this come true.”

Into the Unknown (Staying Safe Going Back to School)
Funded Aug 11, 2020I am reminded so much of the abundant amount of kindness in the world when I come on this site and see how parents, grandparents, fellow teachers, and strangers all come together to help each other. Many times these little (and big!) acts of kindness are over looked but I want to assure you, they are not lost with me.
This was by no means an "exciting" project but I believe one of the most crucial ones I have posted. These cleaning supplies are truly a game changer for my classroom. Knowing that when the students come back that I will have the supplies necessary to help keep them, and myself, safe is a huge burden off my back and I can't thank you enough for helping to relieve that.
Thank you again for your kindness and assisting our school. I truly hope you understand just how thankful I am for your kindness.”
With gratitude,
Ms. Discenza
