    Funded Sep 11, 2024

Thank you for your generous donation. These materials will be able to support so many students for years to come. We are so grateful to have the support in order to provide our students with the tools that they need in order to be successful in high school and beyond.”

    With gratitude,

  • Speech is Cool, But Not Right Now

    Funded Jan 17, 2022

I can’t thank you enough for your big generous hearts to help cool down our room! Maybe we will no longer have to wear tank tops in the winter. Your generosity is beyond appreciated! My student’s will definitly be happy to cool down a bit. Thank you thank you!!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Franzese

  • Speech Loves Magazines!

    Funded Oct 19, 2013

Thank you so much for your help in obtaining the subscriptions to these magazines. Over the past two weeks we have been receiving the magazines and putting them to good use. Our student's love the fun, current articles on entertainment, as well as the current political issues they have been reading about.

Today, a group of students used the magazines to act out a play. This provided social interaction, following directions, as well as decoding. The students enjoy completing the assignments at the end of each article and have done well doing so.

This has helped me to grasp the student's attention better because the articles are about current events that they are interested in. It is becoming easier to have these high school students attend speech because they are interested in the topics.

Thank you again, you have helped us so much!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Franzese

  • Speech Therapy/Auditory Processing Assessment/Games

    Funded May 23, 2012

It is with great pleasure that I thank you for your generous donation to my speech therapy students! Because of your kind heart my students are able to be assessed with the proper materials necessary. It is because of individuals like yourself that these students will now have appropriate placements and therapy treatments implemented during their school day.

The assessment and workbook have been put to good use and the student's are enjoying the great group activities that are included. We woud just like to extend our warmest gratitude for your generosity, Thank you again!!!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Franzese

  • Speech Therapy- Autism Assessment and Therapy Materials

    Funded Jan 19, 2012

Your generous donation to my students have helped to bring them out of their shell. The activity books that were purchased due to your donation are being used everyday to help encourage socialization within our groups during therapy. Some of our student's who would not talk during a group activity are now initiating conversation and learning about one another! The Social Responsiveness Scale that was purchased has supported one of our student's in an evaluation and now they have been properly diagnosed. Without individuals like yourselves it would not be possible to purchase these materials due to the nonexistent funding we receive to purchase supplies. You have made a difference in each one of our students lives. Thank you from all of the speech students at Benjamin N. Cardozo High School, we appreciate you!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Franzese

The students we see are high school students ranging from ages 14-21. Many of these students have speech and language disabilities related to poor pragmatic skills. Some of these students are already diagnosed with Autism, but there are some who are not. My student's have a variety of social deficits which affect their everyday lives. These students often have minimal or no friends due to their poor social abilities. Our goal is to help these students by providing the tools they need to become successful communicator's during high school and their adult lives. These students have trouble making conversation, maintaining eye contact and expressing their wants and needs.
