  • Dividers and Conquer!

    Funded Dec 4, 2024

Thank you so much for your generosity in supporting my students! The binder dividers have made a huge difference in our classroom. With our new English Language Arts curriculum, organization is key, and having a structured way to keep their work in order has helped my students stay on top of their assignments. Now, instead of shuffling through stacks of papers, they can quickly find what they need—whether it's a reading response, a vocabulary list, or a writing draft. It has been incredible to see them take ownership of their learning in this way.

The excitement on their faces when they received the materials was priceless. Many of my students have never had supplies like these before, and they were thrilled to have something that felt both personal and purposeful. One student even said, "I feel like I'm in a real college class now!" Knowing that they have the tools to succeed has boosted their confidence and engagement in our lessons.

As we continue through the school year, these binders will be essential for tracking progress and building strong organizational habits. We are currently working on a multi-step writing project, and being able to easily access their notes and drafts has helped students focus more on their writing instead of wasting time searching for materials. Thanks to you, they are not just learning English Language Arts—they are also developing skills that will benefit them far beyond my classroom.

Thank you again for your kindness and support. My students and I are truly grateful!”

  • Building a Classroom Library of Adventure and Fantasy

    Funded Oct 3, 2024

The addition of these new book sets has had a transformative impact on my classroom. Each story, whether a dystopian adventure or a timeless classic, has sparked excitement and curiosity among my students. Through these books, we've been able to introduce and explore critical lessons about courage, empathy, and perseverance, while also developing essential literacy skills like inference, analysis, and vocabulary building. These texts serve as springboards for rich classroom discussions and creative projects, encouraging students to think deeply about the characters' challenges and how they relate to their own lives.

Reading in our classroom is now an immersive and dynamic experience. Students eagerly dive into the stories during independent reading time, often sharing their thoughts in small groups or journaling about what they've read. Our reading lessons focus on engaging students with meaningful questions and interactive activities, such as creating character maps or debating key themes. For example, one student, who had struggled with reading confidence, has become enthralled with *The Maze Runner* series. She now leads discussions in her group, showing a new level of enthusiasm and leadership.

These books have not only enhanced our literacy curriculum but also brought joy and inspiration to my students. Watching them connect with the characters and take pride in their growth as readers has been incredibly rewarding. Thank you for helping make this possible—you've given my students the tools to dream bigger and discover the transformative power of stories.”

  • Sharpening Our Skills: Tools for Creative Expression and Critical Thinking

    Funded Oct 31, 2024

Thank you so much for your generosity! The impact of this project on my students has been truly incredible. When the new pencils arrived, their excitement was palpable—something so simple brought such big smiles. They were thrilled to each have their own reliable tools for classwork, and it immediately boosted their confidence and focus. One of my students proudly shared, "Now I can write my story without having to stop!" It was a reminder of how small changes can make a big difference.

We've been using the pencils across all subjects, and they've already played a big role in several projects. In writing, students are crafting personal narratives, while in math, they're working through multi-step word problems without interruption. One creative moment stood out during an art and storytelling activity when students sketched characters to accompany their short stories. They were so engaged and eager to share their work, and I could see their pride in having the right tools to bring their ideas to life.

Looking ahead, my students are preparing for a collaborative project where they'll research and present on a topic of their choice. With these pencils, they'll take notes, draft outlines, and polish their final presentations. This project wouldn't have been as seamless without your support, and I can't thank you enough for helping my students succeed. You've given them the tools—and the belief—that they can accomplish great things!”

  • Organize and Shine: a Filing Cabinet for Classroom Success!

    Funded Sep 27, 2024

I am thrilled to share the incredible impact your generous contribution has had on our classroom! The new filing cabinet has truly transformed our learning environment. Before, our materials were often scattered, which made it challenging to keep things running smoothly. Now, with a dedicated space to store important documents, lesson plans, and student work, our daily activities are much more organized and efficient.

One memorable moment was when my students first saw the filing cabinet in the room. They were so excited! They immediately took pride in helping to sort and organize their work, which has fostered a sense of responsibility and ownership over our classroom space. This newfound organization has allowed us to spend less time searching for materials and more time focusing on engaging lessons and meaningful learning experiences.

The next steps for our class involve building on this momentum. With an organized space, we're diving into more hands-on projects that require collaboration and creativity. The cabinet has become a symbol of our commitment to creating an efficient, inspiring environment where my students can thrive. Thank you for being a part of this journey and helping us create a classroom where success is more attainable than ever.”

  • Sharpening Success: Pencils for Every Student!

    Funded Sep 19, 2024

Thanks to the generosity of our donors, the new resources have made an incredible difference in our classroom. The pencils, in particular, have become an essential part of our daily routine. As soon as they arrived, the excitement among my students was contagious. They couldn't wait to use their new pencils, and you could see the pride in their faces as they each held their own supply. For many of them, having access to something as simple as a reliable pencil made them feel more prepared and confident to dive into their assignments.

One of the first projects we completed with the new supplies was a creative writing exercise where students wrote short stories. The focus and dedication they showed, knowing they had the tools they needed, was truly inspiring. They brainstormed, drafted, and shared their stories with enthusiasm, and it was clear that the new pencils helped them express their ideas without hesitation.

The next steps for my students include a series of writing and art projects where they'll continue to use these resources to develop their skills and explore their creativity. Having a steady supply of materials allows us to focus on learning, and for that, we are so grateful. Your contributions have given my students the opportunity to succeed and thrive in ways that might have otherwise been difficult, and we are excited to continue building on this momentum!”

We are a school on the far northeast side of Chicago where 100% of the students receive free lunch. Due to a lack of budget I am not able to buy any new books for my 6th gade Language Arts classroom. We are trying to improve test scores and prepare for the new Common Core assessments, but do not have the resources. Our students are wonderful and work extremely hard. They often comment on our lack of quality reading materials, and it is easy to see their disappointment.
