My students represent the world. Our diversity encompasses race, language and culture. Technology is a common ground for us to communicate and learn. While we are 68% free and reduced lunch we are 100% ready to learn through technology. While we are all learning what it means to be a classroom of the 21st century, technology allows us to expand our skills and ask questions that were never possible before the use of technology in the classroom (SAMR model). My school is 1,400 and counting. We teach 6th-8th grades. Many students receive ESL and academic intervention services. The technology I use inside of my classroom allows students to speak a common language and also prepares them for the careers of their future. Tools like Osmo make the redefinition of a 19th century classroom, into a 21st century learning environment, possible because it allows students to take charge of their learning, at their own pace while also allowing teachers to create engaging student specific lessons.
