  • Learning + Technology = Fun!

    Funded Jan 9, 2019

In my classroom, we use technology every day. The students use the iPads throughout the school day. During math, they use a website called IXL to strengthen their basic skills such as multiplying and dividing or they can practice new concepts that were taught that day. Having more iPads allows for more students to access this website at once. During reading, the students use the iPads to go to a website called lexia. This website is designed to assess the students' reading abilities and assign work that will improve their reading levels. During writing, the students use the iPads to conduct research for informational writing essays they have to write. They love researching their topics.

I see that my students are excited to go on one of the websites mentioned above or to conduct research since we received the new iPads. They work faster and are a tool they are familiar with since may of them have one at home already.

Some of my students use the iPads to type their writing pieces. They love this and it encourages them to complete their writing assignments.

Thank you again for donating to my classroom.”

  • Headphones Wanted!!

    Funded Mar 27, 2018

Thank you for our brand new headphones. My students love that they are soft on their ears. Some of my students have sensory issues and have trouble with rough fabrics. Having the cushion on the headphones did not bother them and allowed them to use them for the whole time. The headphones are the perfect size for my students. We had old headphones that were too bulky and would bother their ears after using them.

The students are excited because the sound is clearer. Also, they each have their own pair, so we can do whole class activities using the iPads or computers instead of breaking the class into smaller groups. I am excited because while I am instructing a small group, another group can go on the reading apps we have and not distract their peers with the sound from the iPad or computer.

I have many students that were excited to use the new headphones for various reasons. For starters, they were happy to have their own set of headphones. Before, the class did not have enough, and they would have to share or wait for someone to finish before they can use them. Another reason, they enjoy using the headphones is because they have cushion around the ears, and have a clearer sound. Thank you for your generous donation. It is greatly appreciated.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Suero

My students are awesome, kind, hard working fifth graders. Eleven of them are students with disabilities. All of my students are visual learners and love to use hands-on materials to help them understand the skill or concept that I am teaching them. The school that I work in services 1,400 students. It has pre-kindergarten to sixth grade. The school provides for all learners; we have a gifted and talented program as well as special education classroom for all grades.
