  • They're Coming To America

    Funded Dec 22, 2007

Thank you so much for opening your heart to my classroom this Holiday season. I know that when we return to school after our winter recess my class will be so delighted to hear that we are getting brand new books for our classroom library. It is wonderful individuals like yourself that make a difference in the lives of my students. Once again thank you”

  • Who Lived Here First?

    Funded Nov 9, 2007

Wow! What a great way to end the work week! I just returned home from another wonderful day at work. Today my students began to explore Native American shelters. They are going to be even more excited than I am about these new books. I cannot wait for you to see their faces as they learn about the Native Americans who once lived on the land that they now live. I also cannot wait to explain to them the importance of a caring and generous heart like the one that you have. Thank you so very much for this wonderful opportunity to open new and exciting doors for my students”

  • Rewarding Dedication

    Funded Oct 14, 2007

Wow is all I can say right now. I cannot wait until the books arrive and each of my students learn that their hard work and dedication have not gone unnoticed. They have already begun preparations for their English Language Arts exam in January and the preparation for the Mathematics exam in March is not too far behind. I know that each one of my students will be so very excited when they have independent reading time with their very own brand new book. Thank you so very much for helping me show my students that each and every one of them are cared about by someone with a caring and understanding heart”

  • The Fonz Is A Writer

    Funded Oct 7, 2007

Wow what can I say. When I posted this proposal on DonorsChoose I could only imagine that someone would want to help my students improve their education. I cannot wait to have my students read these books or have me read them to the entire class as our special book of the month. Every time my students, this year and in years to come, open up one of these wonderful books I will be sure that they know that these books are part of our classroom thanks to the generosity of someone as caring as you. I can only hope that your generosity will inspire my children both in the classroom and outside in the real world. Thank you again”

  • Manipulating Math

    Funded Oct 3, 2007

I am trying to find a word that means more then just a mere thank you. I want to find a word that will allow to visualize the smiles on my students faces as they begin to learn math in a whole new way. I want to find a word that allows you to feel the increase in confidence in my students as they start to understand and a master a new math concept. I am upset because the only word that I can think of is thank you. Your generosity is greatly appreciated not only by me but by my students and their parents. I look forward to teaching my students with these new supplies. Once again thank you for opening your heart to my students”

  • B-I-N-G-O Math

    Funded Sep 5, 2007

School began only yesterday and this funded proposal is a great start to this school year. When I explain to my class tomorrow that someone has been so generous and has given us great math games they will be so elated. I know that this school year my students will begin to enjoy math more and they will be able to practice their mathematical skills in a more relaxed and exciting way. I cannot wait to start taking pictures so that you too can enjoy the smiles on my student's faces as they yell out BINGO. Thank you again for opening your heart to my students, it means more to me than you will ever know”

  • Questioning History

    Funded Jul 31, 2007

Thank you so much for helping me open up a new way of thinking for my students. I cannot wait to see the look on their faces when I tell them to put away their Social Studies textbooks and open up these brand new picture books. They will then travel back into history to learn about these two wonderful women in American History. I know that this experience will allow my students to become more interested in the history of our great country. The most rewarding piece will be when my students not only start asking what if questions in Social Studies but also in Science and Literature Circles as well. Thank you once again for your generosity toward my students, your kindness will be remembered every time one of those books are open this year and in years to come”

Nathaniel Hawthorne once wrote "Words - so innocent and powerless as they are, as standing in a dictionary, how potent for good and evil they become in the hands of one who knows how to combine them." I want my students to become the writers who know how to combine words to create powerful and elegant writings.
