My students are city kids in NJ who enjoy learning in a variety of modes that engages them. Whether they are reading about stories and people they can draw a connection to or playing interactive games within the classroom. I believe learning with the use of technology speaks to them in many forms but precisely because it is the mode they have become accustomed to the most in their generation. They are able to drill skills, earn points, and rotate through learning. The children love sports and have a strong foundation in physical competition but need to improve their academics and desire to read and write. They attend a turn around school in an impoverished area. I believe if they could engage more in the classroom using technology and learn the skills in friendly user apps, they would engage and improve their reading and writing.
