Raising Students Is Expensive: A Teacher's Story

Funded Apr 16, 2024

Today when we continued our phonics lesson on Digraphs, and I brought out the new materials; students jaws were on the floor!!! As we know, students learn best with practice, and with these new markers, students will be able to write, erase, and re-write with efficiency and confidence. We also use the whiteboard markers for math, learning about composing and decomposing numbers. When our students first saw the materials, they were so excited to get to work; having new resources really does engage the students.

We also used the Lysol wipes and paper towels for Effort Parties, Birthdays, and regular daily cleaning. As you know, with a kindergarten class, things tend to get messy. In order to keep my students healthy and cold-free, we are diligently using these wipes and paper towels to maintain our classroom.

We use glue and scissors for literacy, as well as chart paper. Our curriculum is Wit and Wisdom, which allows for a lot of hands-on activities, cutting, pasting, sorting, etc. and I use the Chart Paper to dictate students' words, jot down ideas the students have during literacy, or create anchor charts for resources to use later. The next steps will be to use these amazing materials to prepare for first grade. Thank you so much for your generosity!”

With gratitude,

Ms. Darnley
