Math on a Rug
Funded Mar 27, 2018Thank you so much for making this project, "Math on a Rug" become a reality! I cannot fully express how thankful we are for your generosity. When students saw the rug for the first time, they could not believe their eyes. You could hear them shouting, "Wow" down the hall. They even questioned, if the rug was really for our class.
My students have benefited greatly from the addition of our new colorful and vibrant math rug. It has sparked interest and stimulated learning in our mathematics class. They now have their very own cozy area where they can read books, practice their math fluency, and collaborate with each other in completing class projects. My students take pride in maintaining and ensuring the carpet remains clean. They have even come up with their very own carpet cleaning rotation.
This school year, my students will be learning how to multiply 2 and 3 digit numbers and complete long division problems. In order for my students to do well, they must first have a firm understanding of basic multiplications. I plan using the rug to play various multiplication and division games. I also plan on using the rug to teach various strategies that can make solving math problems easier. As you can see, our new rug is more than just a simple rug. It is a magical math rug that aids in our daily educational routine. Once again, thank you!”

Funded Mar 12, 2018Thank you for your kind donations. My students and I are thankful for your generous donation to our project, "One Chromebook at a Time" The students love their new Chromebook. A significant impact has been made with just one additional Chromebook in the classroom. It has allowed my students and I to connect with technology with ease. We are able to rotate freely from one classroom center to another. No more waiting for our dated computers to access the internet.
With your donations, my students have improved their understanding of grade level skills such as addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, and fractions using computer based programs like iReady, Reflex Math, and Tenmarks. They have truly enjoyed being able to progress at their own level and pace. At the beginning of the year many of my students were working below grade level. By the closing of the school year many of the students made significant gains and were working at their current grade level or above.
Thank you once again for contributing to our "One Chromebook at a Time" project.”

I Can. . .Through Technology
Funded Oct 22, 2013Thank you for your wonderful donations. My students' cannot stop talking about how much they love the Ipads. "It is the coolest thing ever," one student stated. That student is absolutely correct. The iPads has allowed my students and I to connect with technology in a whole new way. No more searching for tapes, CDs, or folders of phonics activities during center time. Our transitions between centers are smooth and waste no time! The Ipad alerts students when to switch from one center to another. When students arrive at the center their task for the day is displayed and students get right to completing the required task. I have used the handwriting app to help students improve handing writing, a phonics app to target the needs of struggling readers, and a fluency app for my blazing speed-readers. Within a short time of using these devices my students have shown great improvement. During our first FAIR assessment, 70% of the students were unable to read any of the passages within the test. With your help now over 80% of my students are reading, showing that they can and they did do it!
The Ipads have also helped me in becoming a more organize and efficient teacher. Its versatility makes my planning of instruction so much more streamlined. I am able to take attendance, record grades much more quickly, and even take quick notes during parent conferences. Additionally, it has helped me improve students' classroom behavior. I have been using this great app called Classroom Dojo. In which I can monitor students' behaviors. Students are awarded points every time they are caught doing the right thing. My students enjoy seeing their points accumulate. At the end of the day the students with the most points receive a "No Homework Pass", an "Extra Ipad Time", or a ticket to the "Fun Friday" that can be utilized at anytime throughout the year.
Thank you once again for transforming our classroom.
