Movement In Our Day
Funded Apr 28, 2018Students are very excited to be able to use our portable basketball hoop during earned free time this year. As the cooler months and then snow arrive it will be wonderful to use indoors. Currently, we are attempting to find a suitable location within the building to set up the hoop for the winter months. We hope this works out because it adds such an exciting choice for our students to pick from.
The hoop went into storage when it arrived as it was so close to the end of the school year. Our balls arrived a week ago and the boys were so excited to pick them up from the main office. They appreciate the fact that people they do not know are willing to contribute to their growth.
Our current 7th graders have recently arrived and will take a bit of time to mold behaviorally and academically. Every day is a new day and sometimes what we plan to do (a style of point sheet, behavior contract, etc.) changes as we look closely to see what is working and what is not. However, we always remain hopeful we are making a difference and we thank you for helping us.”

Food Filled Backpacks
Funded Apr 5, 2012When I first posted this project, I was unsure of the outcome. When there are so many projects on this site for great school materials, who would dedicate their funds for something as basic as food? While we have had great support from our community members, your support has added additional supplies that have been distributed to our student body. The oatmeal, macaroni and cheese, ramen, tuna and chicken are all wonderful additions to the food pantry because they are single serve and our teenage students are often left to feed themselves and/or siblings. This makes it fast and easy. The packages also arrived at the perfect time- just before April vacation!
We started handing out backpacks to 20+ students and currently we are at 50+. The process has had to change over time concerning distribution dates and how many times during the week each student brings home a backpack, but the impact is still immeasurable. Students are also taken off the list as their need decreases, so others can be added.
Thank you, thank you, thank you,”
