With a mindset of "ALL of my babies will be successful readers", I mean just that! The passion and love for reading begins at a young age. I want my students to not only learn to read, but love to do so as well. Encouraging reading and building self confidence that they can and will become successful readers is imperative.
These manipulatives are going to be used in effective literacy centers to build confidence in their foundational reading skills.
There will be listening centers, interactive centers, and self directed centers for my five and six years old who are having fun and enjoying their reading centers. The magnetic letters will be used with my paraprofessional while students are learning and building CVC (consonant-vowel-consonant) words and their sight words. All of the Hot Dots manipulatives will be introduced in my centers and will eventually be an independent center for my students to practice their beginning, middle, and ending sounds they hear in particular words as well as recognizing and identifying blends and digraphs in words. All of these materials will be used to enhance and develop my babies literacy skills in an interactive and fun way for them. Research shows that engagement in literacy in a variety of ways supports good literacy outcomes.
