  • Math Moments in Kinder

    Funded Oct 24, 2019

Thank you so much for your generous donation to our classroom! My students were excited to receive new materials and games to use for their math groups. We spend 30-60 minutes on math centers every so keeping kindergartners engaged can be difficult if you have them use the same materials everyday. Using new hands-on materials can often really help students grasp mathematical concepts, and having these materials definitely helped create more engaging, enjoyable math instruction. Especially those students with exceptional needs. Some of my students even choose to play games and use the materials during free time! All of the students in my classroom love using these materials. But I have noticed that my low students who started the year not being able to recognize any numbers, have increased their number recognition. These games have allowed my students to learn number recognition, one to one counting correspondence, and number order. Thank you again for helping support our classroom, from me, my students, and their families.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Ramirez

  • Loads of Literacy!

    Funded Oct 24, 2019

Thank you so much for donating and supporting our classroom! They were very excited when I showed them the new items for our classroom. My kindergartners love their new literacy resources! We have been using them during center times and guided reading groups. We are also able to use the whiteboards and markers during whole group instruction. The whiteboards have been such a wonderful learning resource because my students are not only getting an opportunity to practice writing, but they are able to practice correct letter formation on the side that has lines. Their favorite games include the spelligator and the litte genius osmo. We use these two games during our reading centers. The spelligator game has helped my low students learn how to spell and blend simple words. This game has also helped my advanced students learn how to create words with two letter sounds such as words with /oa/, /or/, /ea/, /sh/, etc. The little genius game is a popular games because it incorporates technology and my students love using learning games on our ipads. The alphabet soup sorter games has allowed me to have another intervention activity available. My struggling students have been learning their letter and sounds with this game. They love mixing up 4-5 letters and sorting them out. Not only does it keep them engaged, but it has allowed my English language learners to feel more comfortable using new vocabulary. These tools we received have allowed my students to learn different aspects of literacy- sounds, rhymes, writing, and sight word practice just to name a few- in their own way. Our vision for the district was to generate geniuses through open ended learning and exploration; this is exactly what you all have helped me do by giving my students all these wonderful tools. Thank you so much.”

  • Kinder Snack Time!

    Funded Apr 27, 2019

I can't begin to tell you about the excitement and joy that my beautiful students felt when I opened the brand new boxes filled with snacks and unveiled them in our classroom. When students are hungry before or after school, the snacks that you have provided ensure that my students will continue to keep their energy up so that they can continue to learn. Your generous gift is something that is enjoyed by my students every single day and it has such a great impact on their learning and future. I believe so strongly in instilling a love of learning at an early age and fostering that love and growth could never be possible without the support of donors like you. Since they received news that the proposal was funded, my students are constantly asking me about you and truly think of you as their friend. On behalf of my 20 healthy eaters, thank you!!!!!”

  • Crayons to make it BRIGHT!

    Funded Apr 10, 2019

I wanted to take this opportunity to sincerely thank you for your thoughtfulness and generosity. There are so many resources I want to provide to my students that I just do not have the means to. With your help I was able to provide basic school supplies that my students will use for the entire year! They use these color crayons to complete learning activities and early coloring finishers that incorporate math problems and coloring, crafts, and science activities. My special need students and students that need practice with fine motor skills love using the big jumbo crayons you have provide for us! Together we accomplished all of these things and so many more. My students thank you for "allowing them to color with their own crayons," they no longer need to ask a partner for some crayons to complete their work.

I want to provide the best environment conducive to learning that I can. The crayons and glue has helped tremendously in that effort. Now we have enough glue for each student to have their own.

The pencil sharpener has saved me and my students so much time! I sharpen all of our pencils in less then 2 minutes. Before, we had a really old sharpener that took me almost 15 minutes at the end of every day to sharpen the students pencils.

The book covers have made great desk organizers for our classroom! Each student is able to put their library book, math book, writing & science journal, and crayon box in their seat.

This was not just crayons and glue. It is a learning resource that spans across many areas to help my students! I am eternally grateful to the donors that helped contribute to this learning experience, and to Donor's Choose for putting it all together!”

    Mrs. Ramirez

  • STEM Supplies for Our Little Einsteins!

    Funded Oct 15, 2018

I am filled with joy as a write this letter! I can begin to express how thankful I am that you funded this project! My students were so excited when they opened these packages and seen all of the cool new science gadgets they would get to experiment with. My students loved learning about the human body using the Smart Lab Squishy toy and Pumping Heart. They were lost beyond words when they seen how the heart works. My students love tinkering, building and exploring! It is the highlight of their week, and it wouldn't be possible without the kindness and generosity of donors like you. They have learned to become mini engineers that can build robots, cars, and mini playgrounds with their Krazy Gears and Robotics kits. I have already had 2 students tell me that they want to become builders, and one student told me they want to become a doctor that fixes hearts. Thank you for helping my students dream big! Thank you for investing in my students!”

  • Shh, It's Too Loud! Headphones to the Rescue!

    Funded Oct 19, 2018

Thank you so much for your donation which ensures that my Kindergarten students have the tools they need to use the technology we have in our classroom. Before this project was funded, students were having to share headphones which only allowed each student to use an ipad maybe twice a week. It was a challenge for our students to complete their online programs without any distractions. When they opened our packages and seen headphones, their eyes and hearts were filled with joy and excitement! In some cases, this may be the only opportunity they will have to interact with technology. Kindergarten is hard work! Being able to provide resources such as using our iPads and computers without distractions is a powerful way to support our learning. My students and I are very thankful for your generosity. We appreciate it so much!”

  • Math Here, Math There, Math Math EVERYWHERE!

    Funded Oct 12, 2018

Thank you so much for your generous donations!! My students and I have had so much fun using our new math manipulatives and games during stations! These math materials have caused my students to focus more and has made a huge difference for my intervention groups.

We have put these supplies to use daily. We are currently working on number recognition to 20 and fluency to 5 with addition and subtraction. The students have been creating math problems on white boards, and using the bingo & number locks to help identify numbers!

we are also working in identifying 3d shapes. The magnetic pattern blocks have helped my students learn how to make a flat shape, become 3d. Without your generous donations, we would not be able to do all of these fun activities.

Thank you so much for supporting our classroom! We are so grateful and blessed!”

  • Fluorescent Light Covers for a Focussed Class!

    Funded Oct 15, 2018

Thank you so much for your contribution to our classroom. The light covers have made a huge difference in our classroom! Since adding them, i noticed a huge difference in some of our students behaviors and motivation to learn. As you may know, kindergarteners come to school with a wide variety of sensory issues. These light covers have made a world of difference in how my students can focus throughout the day.

When we added these light covers to our classroom, my students loved the dimmer lighting right away. This made a huge difference in the calmness of my classroom! They said it makes them feel relaxed and "cool".

We are so excited to use these year after year. Thanks to you, we will use the light covers for as long as possible!”

  • Dry Erase Markers for the Year!

    Funded Oct 19, 2018

Thank you so much for your contribution to my project and for sharing my enthusiasm for dry erase markers and mr.clean magic erasers! My students use them so many times a day in different ways. We practice sight words, blending, spelling words. We write word families. We practice math facts. We play dice games and record our answers.

We love our markers! The best part is, when a marker gets dried up from a long life of writing, we have replacements readily available. With the help of our mr.clean magic erasers, our boards are staying nice and clean. Instead of me having to wipe every board with a wet wipe after every use, the erasers clean the board nicely and are ready for the next student to use. My students and I thank you for providing these markers and erasers for us, which otherwise would not be possible with our tight school budget. We appreciate you!”

  • CHARGING Up Our Learning!

    Funded Oct 4, 2018

Me and my students have enjoyed our new headphones and tablet charging stations! I can honestly say that they have been game-changers for our classroom! You put an end to trying to find a charger that works at the last minute which allows all my students to access their online programs. Thanks to you, we don't have to listen to 6 noisy tablets that are all saying different things at the same time. Our students are able to focus so much more now!!!

My students and I are so grateful to have a charging station where we can neatly and safely charge 12 tablets at a time on a charger that actually lights up to show that it is charging and when it's finished! Since the package was delivered, we have not had a single day where we did not have enough charged tablets for all of the students who needed them. This station also helps keep the cords neat and organized, and none of them are showing any wear and tear even after daily use.

The headphones fit my students' heads perfectly and are loud enough for them to be able to easily hear their apps, but not so loud that the rest of us can hear them, too. My students are very excited to be able to hear the sounds from the phonics apps they love to play, without having to hold the tablet speakers up to their ears!

Thank you so much for your generous donations. We are very grateful!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Ramirez

Integrating the use of technology throughout the day is a vital part of our learning. We use iPads for student learning with STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math) as well as literacy and connecting the arts. We are fortunate to have a set of iPads in our kindergarten classroom, but we need these charging stations to organize and charge them. This project will greatly improve our ability to use the technology we have. We need to embrace technology to make learning more engaging because when students are engaged and they are interested, that's where learning takes place. Using technology in our classrooms keeps the students engaged and helps build a foundation for STEM learning. Our students work with engineering curriculum to ask questions, explore, create models, evaluate, and explain their thinking. We are preparing our students for a technology-filled world as they get older and providing them opportunities to explore learning through STEM education. Help us keep our tools charged and organized so that we may use them to their full potential!
